Dramatic police bodycam video shows the moment former ER actress Vanessa Marquez was gunned down by police during a welfare check on the actress in California.
The video, published by TMZ Tuesday, opens with an unidentified police officer trying to coax Marquez to go to the hospital in August 2018 after her South Pasadena landlord raised concerns about her wellbeing.
Marquez, 49, who said she had a seizure, is seen sitting on a disheveled bed and looking down at her mobile phone while the cop pleads with her.
Weve already had this discussion and its beyond that now, OK? the cop says.
Im not going, the actress replies.
Things then take a dramatic turn when Marquez is seen reaching under the covers.

Give the guy a break, she didn’t have a dog.
Jeez, how many rounds did they shoot in her general direction? Emptied the magazines?
Ive seen law enforcement types interact with people who have psych issues or are under the influence. The officers frequently have a tendency to escalate things. They have a different mindset, but barking orders and yelling and threatening arent always the best methods to communicate and get cooperation.

Cops hadve no business just showing up for no reason other than a nose neighbor. There was no crime until the boys in blue started sh#t.

New Post: Dramatic bodycam video shows fatal shooting of ER actress Vanessa Marquez
I know they were doing their jobs, I know she ultimately pointed a gun at them. But if you watch the video, this is a tragedy. She didn’t act aggressively until the end. She’s disoriented, and suddenly a group of people are in your house telling you that they are taking you away. Really sad.
The cops aren’t at fault, but probably never should have been there.
Or if you’re going to seize someone because they’re out of it, do it quickly. Don’t wait all day until this sweet little woman finally has a gun and you have to gun her down.
If this was on the street I might view it differently, but this is inside her house and they were there on a “welfare” check, not to investigate criminal activity.
In Massachusetts it's referred to as being "pink papered" because the state form that's filled out chronicling, and authorizing, such an event,is pink.
As I said, every state has such a law and has had one for decades...if not centuries.
As unfortunate as this incident was it looks to me as if the cops (and the mental health worker) were within their rights...from start to finish.
Was that fully automatic fire?
My thought exactly. She even said, “Kill me. Kill me.”
...Forgot about the body cam.
...
A little bit of black electrical tape and you’re go to go.
after 2 hours of harassment
I don’t think so.
It may be debateable to have different tactics for people who are having medical problems and aren’t all there at the moment. Maybe if you have to disarm and takedown, hitting them with beanbag rounds as opposed to dealing with them like a genuine violent career criminal thug.
What’s happened to canister gassing them out.
and if they left and she killed herself they would be a major lawsuit. I can’t imagine how anyone on this board or anywhere would fault the cops. She pointed a gun at them they backed off and she came to them with a gun. give me a break.
After my brain injury messed me up 5 cops came to the house to take me to a psych ward emergency room. I asked them if they wanted to dance. All of them said no. By dance I meant fight. I was really out of it and depressed but I didn’t reach for anything that would have gotten my head blown off. I went to the emergency room and talked with the doctor and he sent me home immediately.
The headaches from the head injury or so constantly severe for months that I attempted suicide with 100 sedatives. it’s harder to kill yourself than you think :-)
If I had attempted suicide and succeeded right after the cops left if they had just left me alone, what a lawsuit my mother would have had.
Looking back I cannot fault in them for telling me I had to go at least to the psych emergency room.
one thing this guy could have said is you just need to visit with a doctor. He didn’t have to tell us she was going to be put away for some days.
You are feeling awful that point and don’t want to move or be bothered doing anything.
I actually did end up in a bunch of psych wards due to the pain and the other terrible medical symptoms that drove me close to the edge.
I didn’t trust myself alone being in that kind of pain.
they are the most boring places in the world, psych wards. On the other hand the bologna sandwiches and snacks at 9:30 p.m. every night are nice :-)
The pain subsided through several years and I’ve been good for 10 years now.
but this lady looked like I did at times and I was very very suicidal at those times. I don’t think she was going to be around a lot longer whether the cops visited or not. They might have saved her. It didn’t go down that way.
And it is sad.
It was a fully automatic assault pistol.
It happened on the victims property not in public. The cops should retreat and get professional help.
“I’m not going to kill you!”
Bang bang bang...
I dont know. There are a lot of nonlethal ways to deal with someone, especially one who’s never been a problem before, has no history of violence. As a general rule, mental illness and medical events shouldn’t be responded to with the same protocols as a known violent thug. Exceptions, sure, but as a general rule, I think they have so many nonlethal ways and are the self-declared experts at dealing with situations like this.
It sounded like automatic fire from the cop’s rifle on the video. Was just curious if it was bad sound or actually automatic fire.
A hard call, I suppose. Perhaps ER isn’t important enough.
Heather Locklear’s managed to survive her various altercations.
Clear case of copicide. She begged him to kill her then did what it took to get her wish. Case closed.
