Having closely observed employee activity in both healthcare settings and in restaurants, especially the back-of-the-house, I note that many, many employees constantly check their cell phones while on duty. They do not wash their hands. Many studies have shown how filthy cell phones are and when cultured, even exhibit fecal matter in the results. Based on this, I believe that this behavior can accelerate the transmission of infectious diseases. And, a case can be made to say that this constitutes "Reckless Endangerment", especially in our current environment. Therefore, I hope that Public Health Departments will compel employees to use their cell phones only on personal time. I will be calling my local department today.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to disinfect mine without damaging it. Not sure how yet.
I rub a disinfectant wipe all over it every other day. or squirt hand cleaner on a tissue and wet the surfaces all down.
I was washing them in the sink with the dishes, but the cost of new cell phones was busting my bank account.
For every germophobe, there is a business opportunity:

Cheaper and better for users to sit in the sunshine for 30 minutes and let the sun shine on their smart phone.
That way you get free Vitamin D and Dopamine, and your phone gets sterilized from your germs.
“even exhibit fecal matter in the results”
Well, of course. I assume you’ve heard of “butt dialing”?
Did you ever see the Mythbusters episode where they find feces on your bathroom toothbrush?

Dr Dean Edell, once a popular MD on the radio, a couple of decades ago proved that flushing toilet in the same room as your toothbrush, got the toothbrush with mist.
A few years ago we converted our shower/bath to a walk in a walk in shower for old folks. My wife made sure the toilet was in the same area as our shower not where our sinks/tooth brushes etc are.
She is a lifelong RN and a ‘sister’ 3 yr RN is married to the local ID doc. With her friend’s input, we throw away and replace the removable electric toothbrush part the 1st of every month. We sanitize the dishwasher, washing machine and replace the Brita filter. Also, once a week the removable brush head on our electric brush spends a few hours in a cup with mouthwash.
We seem to have less colds and zero serious viruses with this process. The total actual working time is about 5 minutes and however long those clean/sanitize cycles in the dishwasher and washer take.

I keep my toothbrush in a glass of Hydrogen peroxide. Have done for over 20 years. Does not shorten the life of my toothbrush.
