My folks live in an "assisted living facility". It's a lower level of care than the WA facility, which was a "skilled nursing facility" AKA Nursing Home, where most folks are bed ridden, in a wheelchair, or have some illness that requires constant monitoring by skilled persons, like an RN or better.
But to your point, the place where my folks live is VERY serious about colds, flu, or any illness. In assisted living, a flu infection carries a very high risk of death, and will more likely than not require hospitalization. Sadly, many if not most of the patients at the WA Nursing Home will not survive this bug. Hopefully this small outbreak is contained, and does not become a large outbreak.
Li Wenliang (Chinese: 李文亮; 12 October 1986 7 February 2020) was a Chinese ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital who on 30 December 2019 warned fellow colleagues about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), later acknowledged as COVID-19 on WeChat.
He became a whistleblower when his warnings were later shared publicly. On 3 January 2020, Wuhan police summoned and admonished him for "making false comments on the Internet".
Li returned to work, later contracted the virus from an infected patient and died from the disease on 7 February 2020, aged 33.
Thank you kicking of this daily thread, daily.
And for too many days.
congrats! such a milestone - for your son and for you :)
Contact tracing in western Washington is now impossible. Yesterdays soccer match with 40,000 in attendance would provide far too many vectors now.
We here in Washington are going to become Americas version of Wuhan for cases Im afraid. I hope not...
Li Wenliang looks very young to died from Coronavirus.
“Damn. Wonder how it got in there?”
Infected was in the Hospital ER at the same time as a resident. Resident carried it back to the home...
BUMP for later reading and maybe commenting...
Good video.
I think many people confuse prepping with panic.
Prepping is _not_ panic.
It is preparing so you don’t have to panic.
Proper prepping prevents panic!
It is a Catch 22.
If you cancel events people who were not prepared start panicking.
If you don’t cancel the virus spreads quickly.
This is a terrible time to be a local official.
How the hell do we know he died of the virus or wasnt killed by the Chinese!!
That ship sailed. How many infected passengers have gone through every major airport in this country in the past few months?
“He basically said we have no clue what this is going to doit is just too early.”
Yup.
Wow I work with Ambassador Birx when I was in South Africa.. Vice President Pence did good bring her on board....
Why is this so hard for people to understand? And it doesn't mean you think this is TEOTWAWKI. It just means that you think there is going to be some fallout from this, and you are going to take measures to minimize the effect on yourself and those you love. Even if the only fallout is that people will panic and act irrationally, that's something to prep for.
I am a free man, I am not going to be holed up inside my house for a month because the government tells me to. The way you willingly accept that and cheer it on disturbs me.
