I’m so old I remember when there were just “bikes.”

Well, actually, your hoity-toity types got “English” three-speed bikes with the gears in the rear hub. The rest of us got sturdy, indestructible Schwinn or Huffy 26 inch bikes with coaster brakes and a single speed. No fussy or fragile derailleurs for us!

A Schinn Stingray — you youngster, you. That wasn’t even invented until I was 12 and I never understood those things at all. Even at 12 I wanted a MAN’s bike, a big, strong Schwinn 26 inch Cruiser.

at our age- we all wanted ‘choppers’ with ape hanger handlebars- The one i posted was pretty cheap- the sissy bar on back always broke, the handlebars always stripped out trying to do wheelies-

Yay ! My favorite sport ! Mountain biking 🚵‍♀️! Remember kids 1- you can ride your mountain bike on roads. But you can’t ride a road bike on trails ! 2- You want comfort. Shocks and big tires 3- for you newbies. There are good battery assist bikes now 4- Downhills are FREE ! there’s nothing else on earth like it 5 - You can cover a lot more ground in nature I went up a trail in the sierras. 5-6 hours up. 3500 ft. 10 miles. Then I just turned around. Put the seat down. Checked my brakes Put in the helmet ( a must ! ). And gloves and whoooooosh ! 1 hr and 25 minutes. All exhilaration. No effort needed except staying on the trail Biking does NOT hurt your knees and ankles I can’t suggest anything more except being good to your wife !!

I have to replace the tire and tube. It’s all out of green slime and worn down.

I’m still limited to the indoor trainer (Wahoo Kickr). And even there I just can’t seem to get the wattage up. Age is not kind to cyclists.
