CLAIM: Colloidal silver products can help prevent or protect against the new coronavirus from China.
AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The silver solution has no known benefit in the body when ingested, according to officials with the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, a federal scientific research agency.
THE FACTS: Colloidal silver is made up of silver particles suspended in a liquid. The liquid solution has often been falsely peddled as a miracle solution to boost the immune system and cure diseases.
Social media users have most recently linked it to products to address the new virus that emerged from China. But experts have long said that the solution has no known function or health benefits and it comes with serious side effects. The FDA has taken action against companies promoting colloidal silver products with misleading claims.
“There are no complementary products, such as colloidal silver or herbal remedies, that have been proven effective in preventing or treating this disease (COVID-19), and colloidal silver can have serious side effects,” Dr. Helene Langevin, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health director, said in a statement.
The NCCIH says colloidal silver has the power to turn skin blue when silver builds up in the body’s tissue.
In 2002, The Associated Press reported that the skin of a Libertarian Senate candidate in Montana turned blue-gray after taking too much colloidal silver. The candidate, Stan Jones, made the solution himself and began taking it in 1999 to prepare for Y2K disruptions, according to the report.
On Wednesday, televangelist Jim Bakker interviewed a guest on his show who promoted silver solution products, claiming the substance had been tested on previous coronavirus strains and eliminated them in hours. She said it had not been tested on the new coronavirus.

That guy also put it on his skin and then went inside a tanning bed! He was making silver chloride, which is well known for turning skin blue.
But there are articles claiming it can block absorption of some medicines. Not sure if science or speculation.
I bought a bottle just as a last resort last week. Just as a last resort. But I wish I could find good science one way or another.
Yeah, use in bandages has documented science behind it.
There some silver containing wound creams as well.
Texas A&M is the only study of internal use that I’m aware of, and I can’t find it. Just references to it, which may or may not be fairly reporting it.

Dont you believe it. Colloidal silver is an effective anti bacterial. We use it with excellent results. We also treat our chickens with it instead of antibiotics. Your skin will not turn blue.
Colloidal silver is very effective for UTI’s also.

You can male your own colloidal silver, many do. DC voltage source, silver and distilled water. I make my own colloidal copper, useful stuff too.

Nano silver kills fungus, bacteria, and viruses.
If you want to avoid ANY virus, i would suggest following advice that has worked for me for 10+ years (I am now 60).
1) Fight Inflammation
2) Build Immune System
Silver is a powerful anti-bacterial, but has less effect on virus.
it’s like a fire extingusher - if the house is engulfed, it won’t work.
Much better to prevent the house catching fire.
this is done by reducing inflammation, and building immune system.
If you are interested, google it and follow intructions for reducing inflammation by changing what you eat, and supplements (like turmeric).
Then add elderberry extract 1 Tbs 2x Daily, and probiotics.
Make sure to CUT OUT prepared foods with preservatives, and take 300% of the RDA of all major vitamins.
I have not have any viral infections in 10 years.
If you keep hitting , read more studies, there are severa pages of studies.
Skimming them, does look like there are a few regarding taking colloidal silver internally.
A march 2013 study concluded anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, but didn't find anti-viral effectiveness.
Geez people, get a grip....CBD and essential oils will cure anything.
This one seems particularly relevant, they used it as a hyrdosol. Does that mean we need to vape it. Maybe mix it with some Propylene Glycol for a double whammy?

Hmmmm - not long back, we had a FReeper telling us what a magic elixir colloidal silver was...of course, we have a lot of folks really into the “special supplements as a way to avoid lifestyle choices” mixed in....most of it is harmless, some of it may turn out to be helpful and the companies that make money from helping us to produce the most expensive urine and feces in the world have their niches in the Market and add to GDP/GNP...
