One Walt Disney World attraction just became a little too immersive for riders.
Around midday on Thursday, one of the boats used in the classic Jungle Cruise ride at the Orlando theme park started sinking while filled with passengers.
Witnesses documented the mishap on social media, showing guests still standing inside the boat as the murky water slowly rose around their legs. All those on board were safely rescued, but later images captured the vessel nearly completely submerged, its canopy roof still visible and what appears to be a lone park employee on board.
Our boat on the jungle cruise sank today. Fun times! #wdw, one park-goer tweeted.
The water in the boat was about a foot and half. Happened about noon, wrote the same Twitter user. We went from floating to sunk in about a minute. Everyone was fine and we were rescued in about 20 minutes.

It was cool enough for me at ten, but now they ruined it with PC, taking away the blank gun used to scare off the Hippo.
Not every attraction needs to be a wild thrill ride or based on the latest movie.
Not that it really matters to me as I will never be there again.

It’ll probably sink, too.
Sink....in 4 feet of water? Most rides are on chains and tracks.
OMG, I remember that now. I was 8 years old. We went to Disneyland 2 or 3 times a year.
I'm sorry Emily, marry me!
It was used for hippo attacks and to signal the base camp in case of mechanical issues.
Oh, the huge manatees.
Did the Pirates of the Caribbean get out of their section and attack it? lol
It’s not about Tom Cruise and a happy jaunt through Scientology?
Rose reminded me of the old spinster Miss Fannie from our church back then. I was too young to understand the dynamics at the time but I later found out from my mother that Miss Fannie ruled the roost from the second church pew on the right hand side of the congregation. She could make or break whatever Minister was assigned to the church.
“Tokyo Disneyland to close through March 15 over coronavirus”
I know, I saw that after posting. Maybe I’m a week or two ahead of things.
The alligators at Disney are cute with big eyes, and make funny, snappy comments as they eat you.
Japan has got the Olympics. They’re terrified that’ll be canceled if they don’t nip COVID 19 in the bud.
You must have never done “It’s a small world”.
Ya board the SS Titanic, ya takes yer chances. Arrrr
I wonder how Disney keeps gators out of their waterways. Rule #1 in Florida, if there’s water, there’s a gator.
I was a young teenager, visiting the park with parents and siblings, when that ride broke down. We were stuck in that dammed thing for over an hour. The boats stood still but the song and mechanical characters were working just fine.
I loath hearing that song now. Not good memories.
Seriously, all the journalism classes and schools have been taken over by ex National Enquirer writers.
