The Wonderlic Test was created by E. F. Wonderlic to gauge one's knowledge in math, vocabulary and reasoning abilities in 1936. These days you hear it most talked about around this time of year, regarding the NFL Combine.
It has been used in the Navy and to determine IQs, but in the 1970s Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry began quizzing players with the test, and it has been done in the league ever since.
Because no one is asking me to play for their NFL team, I will never be given an actual Wonderlic Test, so I decided to head to Google and find a free one. The test I took was a full Wonderlic: 50 questions in 12 minutes, and I got a taste for how stressful it is for players taking the test.

Vince Young got a 6...was asked to retake the test then got a 16
Patrick Mahomes is a tough act to follow.
And here are the average scores by NFL position:

Guard: 23
Tight end: 22
Safety: 19
Linebacker: 19

OL master race
I’m surprised that CBs are rated that high
Benjamin Watson scored a 48. He’s actually speaking at CPAC tomorrow.
Terry Bradshaw and Dan Marino got 15-16.
A company I worked at used to give the wonderlic test as a screening tool for employment
To get a 6, you almost need to be brain dead or have a complete lack of education. as in not able to read.
Our cut off was a score of 15. Very low, but it told us they were at least breathing.
Wonder how these same players would do after a career of bashing their skulls into each other?
Ours as well. I think our cutoff is 20. Anything over 30 quite a bit above the national average. Anything in the 40s is really impressive, especially if they didn’t prepare for the test, which you can do to a degree. I wasn’t allowed to hire someone (she had an MBA from Northwestern) because she couldn’t crack 20.
The ball boy tryouts at the US Open are some of the most challenging in sports!

You better just have your will in order!

But there are some benifits!
clevelanddotcom just had a story on the fastest 40 yard dash guys from the last 10 combines. Not good outcomes at all. Better to draft the second fastest guy.
Frank Gore, the running back from miami, scored a 6 on the Wonderlic......meaning he is borderline retarded.
Reinard Wilson, a Defensive End from fsu scored a 5.
Gore looks sort of neolithic.
But what durability for a running back.
Same here. Most companies I applied for gave an IQ TEST similar. Over at Procter & gamble , it was unique. There was a piece of paper and we had to make an origami of a swan before you have the “ privilege” of an interview. I think most applicants went home lol
I nailed the wonderlic at 47 and the HR person wanted me to retake- still got 46
After their careers are over, they take the WindowLick Test.
So who scored highest?
word in Indianapolis is Alabama tackle Jedrick Wills scored lower than Vince Young
