I respectfully disagree. I don’t think we’ll reach the point where we have to quarantine geographic areas not close schools and businesses.

March is this weekend, the Spring is starting in the South, and will spread North 100 miles a week by the end of the month.

People here are aware and even so the President said we’re already limiting some Brazilian and Italian air traffic. We’ve already done China, and South Korea will probably be next. Iran... Well, not many flights from there.

Be vigilant, be smart, be prepared, but don’t fear.

Finally, if I was younger and richer, I’d be trying to open a surgical mask factory pronto. Lots of money to make. Betcha someone is actually on this, as well as other material shortages!

First question I would ask: Hi Mr. President, my family is trying to buy some respirators and I cannot find any online or in stores. What is being done to make these available to citizens.

Try your local ACE hardware store. This afternoon, I found boxes of 10, 3M brand, part number 8200.

“I’m not the youngest person so if I die (a small chance) I’m at peace with my maker.”

That’s my perspective. (I do worry about leaving pets behind, though.)

So have I....I think the thread spent a lot of time on China and other countries rather than focuse on our country and preperation as well as what was being done for the few here. No that that was a bad thing to do but you had to wade through multiple posts before finding out about our country.....and then you had those who do create a hype....so the thread became pretty useless for me.

a disease is spreading that has killed 9% of those in whom it has run its course.

Agreed, that's BS.

As of right now it is only 8.3%

Do the math yourself.

30,424 recovered, 2,771 died is 33,195 cases completed.

Now take the number of deaths (2,771) and divide it by the number of cases completed (33,195) and multiply that result by 100 to get a percentage.

Report your results here, S'il Vous Plaît...

I don't know why you're getting upset with me. Because nopardons needs someone to lash out at, and... there you are!

Oh well ;-)

Honestly I don't see the problem with doing what President Trump just said his entire government was doing...PREPARE for any eventuality. Be ready. That's why he was relaxed and confident. They are doing all they can no matter what ends up happening. It's not panicking. It's THE opposite. It's methodically assessing potential risks and taking steps now to avoid panic in the future.

First of all, you're no mind reader, but your projection complex has gotten into hyperdrive, in regard to how I "feel".

I'm neither "upset with you", nor quarrlesome. I simply stated some facts and some musings.

Did I trigger you; snowflake?

Yep - the incompetents in Congress who are working AGAINST the administration on this issue not WITH him should continue be called out - as the President just did.

The problem is that the CDC admitted it was behind on prep. Rods sister was busy playing politics rather than ordering supplies.

So do you think we should be preparing or not?

Even though it’s crap? Not their hospital. Their study.

This stuff is done by research interns who call hospitals and regional FEMA offices and asks, “have you got a plan?”

No kidding.

At the granular hospital level they are nowhere near ready for any pandemic. The bean counter administrators would shoot any supply chain person ordering something above the crisis level.

In our region they consolidated the Emergency Preparedness Department to one person for five hospitals. This person is responsible for the review of every emergency procedure in the hospital. This ranges from someone slipped on the ice to the hospital is going to be quarantined and how to prevent people leaving.

They are also for updating the responsible parties and new technologies. They are also responsible for training people on emergencies like fires, mass casualty events, active shooters, and evacuations. And pandemics.

Do you think any of those policies have been trained since the “consolidation?” The EPM for our hospital lives 60 minutes and 3,000 ft in elevation away. Do you think that place is going to respond well to a COVI-19 family walking into an already crowded ER?

The answer is a resounding no.

What isn’t factored in with that calculation is there large number who had the coronavirus and either didn’t get any symptoms or very mild. That number, especially among younger people and kids, could be the largest group of all.

I think not smoking two or three packs a day nor living in a coal smoke cloud 24/7 has a much more profound affect on those who get the virus.

LOL...heck, I don't even have any family stories about THE SPANISH FLU, since nobody in my family had it.

Thanks; I do hope that some of my posts will lighten up the panic.
