Yes, yes, YES!
BY STEVE USDIN, WASHINGTON EDITOR | FEB 25, 2020 | 4:32 PM EST The Singapore Ministry of Health has used an antibody test developed by the Duke-NUS Medical School to determine the source of a COVID-19 cluster. The ministry reported that it is the first use anywhere of antibody-based testing for exposure to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The antibody test is important because it can be used to identify individuals who have been exposed to the virus and are asymptomatic or have recovered from the disease.
Antibody tests can be used, as in the Singapore case, to trace and isolate disease clusters.
Antibody tests could be used more broadly to determine how and where SARS-CoV-2 is spreading in communities.

I drove cross country on my MC. I ended up coming into LA on the way back, from the north and going south to a relative in Biloxi.
Every time I stopped the people were the most friendly in the country. I went into a convenience /gas station. The kid at the counter greeted every person the way in, and blessed them in the way out. Most of the folks didnt lift their head. This kid didnt care. He was determined to make everyones day.
“The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwideabout one-third of the planet’s populationand killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million victims, including some 675,000 Americans.Oct 12, 2010.”
You might want to reword your bet to worldwide not just US deaths.
Those betting on just US deaths are gaming the system.
Also, set a time limit of 2 years after the first known death to the Corona Virus.
That would be a great help. Leaps and bounds ahead of the CDC.
It’s the same old same old.
If you postulate that having a few weeks of essentials set aside ‘just in case’ it’s OMG you’re PANICKING!!!!!!
NO.
Panic is when your city is put under quarantine for 3 weeks. Or you have a nasty ice storm and no power for 3 weeks. Or you have a hurricane hit nearby. Panic is when you find out after one of those things happen you have a sum total of a half a bottle of expired mustard and a 6pk of skunky beer in your fridge...
Then you can panic.
Prepping prevents panic!

And Scandinavia and Netherlands.

Four Italians who were diagnosed with the coronavirus in Tenerife (Canary Islands) were all staying at the hotel where around 1,000 guests are now locked down
At least 50 people with coronavirus in Japan are seriously ill, including 36 people from the cruise ship - NHK
I was going by the map of current cases at https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
Certainly true. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
It would be interesting to know the age and health condition of most of the deaths. I would be curious to know how many would have been in as much danger or died had they contracted influenza. Unlikely we’ll ever know.

And this is with first world health care.
Japan isn’t some backwater medically.
I was supposed to fly home on 9/11.
All flights cancelled.
I borrowed a company car and drove home.
I drove all day.
Stopped a few times for food and fuel.
People trying to figure things out.
I got home to my little city late at night.
Picked up my car at the airport.
My car needed fuel.
The first three gas stations were out of fuel.
The fourth station was a ways out of town.
All pumps going.
One guy was filling up a 55 gallon drum on a trailer.
I told him that even if every refinery was attacked, there was still enough fuel in storage for 30 days.
He got a blank look on his face and said, I want to make sure.
What he made sure was that the gas stations would raise their prices.
The fuel tankers rolled the next morning.
The gas stations made some good money for a day.
Most peoples idea of three weeks worth of food would probably last several months if it was rationed. anyone who doesn’t have a stocked larder is probably living hand to mouth.
You are entirely correct.
There are a lot of people, who could afford to, who don’t have really any food in the house.
Since they can afford to, nearly every meal is eaten out.
Those people will be hurt if their town is ‘suddenly’ put under a 3w quaratine. They will have to fight the panic stricken crowds at the stores (any contagious people in those crowds?) and then learn to cook. All on the same day.
