Coronavirus Live Thread. Live Thread 1
2/23/2020

Posted on 02/23/2020 1:57:16 PM PST by Vermont Lt

Figured we would start numbering the threads.

Some points to keep in mind:

1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

It’s Sunday night and the Walking Dead is back. Let’s talk Coronavirus.

I pulled two cases of quart jars, down from my stash, the other day.

One is regular mouth, one is wide mouth.

I prefer the wide mouth, but the regular will do for dehydrated veggies.

Great idea on the bananas. May have to make a trip for some of those...mushy and good ones.

Good for Cuch! Glad he’s calling attention to their site being down/behind paywall.

The map was restricted by login up until about 30 minutes ago, but is available again. It’s a little slow in adding new cases as the virus spreads to areas not covered well by their data (WHO, CDC, ECDC, NHC and DXY), but a good tool for us lazy folks who just want a quick snapshot and a minimal ability to “drill down”, without scouring multiple sources.

If only Toyota would sell their cheap small pickup with no frills in the US. There wasn’t much under the hood.

CAFE standards means Toyota needs more markup, which means more add-ons. CAFE and safety standards means more junk under the hood.

That login restriction happened to me several days ago, and then shortly afterward the JHU map became readily available again, with slightly altered graphics. I don’t think I see any change this time...

At age 12, I was 6 ft 3/8 inch and 112 lbs. A big growth spurt from 4 ft 9 in at age 11. A year later, I had "filled out" to 135 lbs. My target at age 63 is 146 lb to limit the pressure on my joints from rheumatoid arthritis. It's a significant decrease from December 2015 at 194 lbs.

After my wife's August 26th seizure, she dropped to 126 lbs. She's 5 ft 6 in as well. I just retrieved her from the hospital. Diagnosis is epilepsy. August was provoked by a DKA related to being a Type 1 diabetic. The incidents yesterday were labeled "unprovoked". All 3 were tonic/clonic grand mal events. Lots of tests. No clear observation of cause. Still pending: EEG and echo cardiogram (arrhythmia observed on EKG. Checking for AFIB).

Could be they were just tweaking something behind the scenes and had to go offline to avoid crashing something. I’m sure the traffic is growing quite rapidly at this point, with “non-asian” countries getting hammered.

He’s a walking stick. Eats everything not nailed down. Life is unfair that way LOL.

It’s that safe for oral consumption? I put it in my skin in patches to be absorbed over a 24 hour period.

My 86.5 Nissan Hardbody 2.4l running strong; 5 speed manual, lots of overstock repair parts stockpiled at numerous U.S. distributors. At 112k, timing chain and associated parts should hold out for several tens of thousands of miles yet, God willing. It’s my least sexy vehicle but might Outlast the others. Its bed has carried prepper’s dried food buckets on many occasions.

Stock up St. Patrick’s day is around the corner.

In an uncertain world, eat dessert first. St David's Day is March 1st. Potato leek soup and Welsh cakes are traditional items. St Patrick's Day follows on March 17th. Pick up the corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and Guinness now.

Oh. Look for the articles where China blames the US for making the disease. They point out how exactly it was made for them by the US in those claims.

Unfair indeed. At age 12, a 14 inch "works" pizza washed down with a 26 oz bottle of Coke made a fine lunch ahead of riding by bicycle 50 miles. Those days are long gone.

Bah.

If I ate 2 chocolate chip cookies I had to skip supper altogether or my clothes wouldn’t fit the next day.

No lie.
