Coronavirus Live Thread. Live Thread 1
2/23/2020

Posted on 02/23/2020 1:57:16 PM PST by Vermont Lt

Figured we would start numbering the threads.

Some points to keep in mind:

1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

It’s Sunday night and the Walking Dead is back. Let’s talk Coronavirus.

This might be the grossest thing you'll read today, but just might answer the question of how these "super spreaders" who appear asymptomatic are infecting 100+ people at a pop.

Highlight of this article:

"airborne plume of virus-laden diarrheic gases can spread very far, and it can linger."

The 2019-nCoV Coronavirus: Are there two routes to infection?

I am not exactly sure but it sounds a lot like they are saying somebody can also pass this through passing GAS if they've got this nasty bacteria in their gut...

I am fine with getting nothing from these clowns. Odds are it would be defective like their kits. The problem is for those who still trust their government.

They went from striking “pandemic” from their vocabulary to bringing it back in a matter of hours and we’re now supposed to prepare.

Not good. Not good at all.

If this thing gets to Mexico, the world ends...

All passengers in quarantine or just the ones confirmed and the rest spreading it to the 3 who don’t already have it?

The N95 was shown in a recent study to decrease flu transmission by 80 % when exposed to an infected person in an enclosed area. It is probably due to preventing larger particles which are known to have higher densities of bacteria. And probably have higher viral densities. Especially if it is a human cell under viral control lol. But N95 should only be used by people long term if they just want to postpone getting the disease. N95 is useful to minimize minor exposure or ambient exposure. Not for prolonged long term exposure. IE If someone coughs, sneezes or is identified as sick, leave the room asap even with a N95.

Remember the pictures of those at Lackland going down the buffet line not wearing gloves and no sneeze guard?

frontliners in videos were only wearing surgical masks and what looked to be n95 masks.

They’d then get ‘tusslin’ with the infected people and participate in what could only be called police brutality.

Now those same brutal police are infected.

Shocker.

I think you mis-read my numbers.

35% of components (not necessarily parts) are sourced from China.

80% of the 35% are made in the provinces that are locked down.

.80 x .35 = (roughly) 30%. (exactly 28%)

My point is that a lot of this stuff is replaceable (you can get an aluminum screw just about anywhere.) If that part is the mold injected front panel for the car...that might be more complicated.

The Bloomberg article was just putting out numbers—it did not get into much detail.

Of course it is case dependent. My examples (parts) are hypothetical.

But I am sure there is some stock analyst who has been crunching these numbers and some supply chain guy who is trying to find alternative suppliers.

This is the problem with single sourcing for the best price.

Their just testing themselves and VIPs cause tests are limited. And yes, the results are not good so far I suspect. Heck, even North Korea closed its border with China. They are even quarantining all foreigners now. Think you have problems ? What if you were a quaratined foreigner in NK right now lol.

Weird. I thought the WHO were supposed to prepare the world for an epidemic. Anyone can say, you should prepare. The crazy guy down at the end of the street tells you to prepare for the end of the world every day for nickels lol.

Thank god for printers. Better buy em up while they still last. They can print parts we need. Slower but functional

do you have any info on Castings..as in steel and cast Iron foundries? China is a huge supplier as is South Korea

No foundries= no parts for car engines or Caterpillar tractors and such

yeah it’s all gross to think about - but if this thing can pass through people’s gas, that seems really problematic for any shared air space.
