I guess it was just a coincidence that the Feist photo not only had the conformation, but also the color and marking pattern of a Basenji. The black coats of your dogs messes with my mind. I’m “imprinted” with the red tan and white.

Most Feists that people are used to seeing look like Jack Russell’s with longer legs, usually, unless the Rat Terrier part of their DNA is dominate. There are six Vets where we go. The first Vet that saw Abby, my 3-year old, knew she was a Feist but the second Vet thought she was a Basenji. Similar look, different type personality. Mountain Feists are squirrel dogs. I don’t know much about Basenji’s except that according to the Vet they aren’t very friendly and they don’t usually bark. Mine are extremely friendly and they bark. Basenji’s don’t bark like most dogs.
