The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have posted an extraordinary statement on their website claiming that the Queen does not own the word royal across the world after they were forced to drop their 'Sussex Royal' brand.
Harry and Meghan put a new statement on their own website hours after announcing they would stop using the word 'royal' in their branding after the Spring.
The statement said that while neither the government nor the Queen herself own the word 'royal' internationally, they would stop using the title.
The statement read: 'While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word "Royal" overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use "Sussex Royal" or any iteration of the word "Royal" in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.'
They also appeared to complain that the palace is treating them differently to other family members.
The statement continued: 'While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.
'Per the agreement The Duke and Duchess of Sussex understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties and not undertake representative duties on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.'
A spokesman for the couple first issued a statement to the media about their use of royal titles shortly after 7.30pm on Friday but around 10pm they shared a much longer statement on their website via their Instagram story.

I imagine, growing up in California, Meghan DID talk to the help that way because the help was illegal and didn’t speak English very well and scared. She’s an embarrassment.

What I don’t get is exactly what do they need this Sussex Royal label for? Do they really expect people to buy junk that they might sell? I guess they’re look at the Kardashians and figure they can cash in the way they have. Frankly, I think their stars are going to fade very quickly. What in heaven’s name do they have to offer?
IIRC, Hillary visited Frogmore back in October. That should have been a BIG red flag for the Queen. But she has alway given Harry the benefit of the doubt. I hope that will soon cease and she will confront that Me-again wants to destroy the monarchy as that is the Liberal way of doing things. If you can’t get what you want, nobody else can have it, burn it down. Going scorched earth on the Queen will not win them many friends and will turn boatloads more against them. They’re too stupid to realize that though.
And the Brits thought the Kennedys were trashy!
I can’t imagine why anyone would want to collaborate with these two on anything. They have proven themselves to be vindictive, spoiled and downright nasty to people they are closest too. I imagine they would be a sueing machine over everything that doesn’t go their way. Very toxic. One would have to be a total idiot to get involved with them in any way, shape or form.
The Queen must take care of this situation. She cant leave it to Charles. When Wil is king will he still have a soft spot for Harry? He so tried to warn his bro. Harry is lyc8ky Philip is old and sickly. Who knew Samantha was right all along?
No question Diana had issues however, she also maintained a degree of class. She was raised in an aristocratic family herself. Markle is sheer trash. A pos trash wrapped up in a nice package with a bow is still a pos when the package is opened.

Technically they are right, the word royal is generic and used all over the place.

I feel like the British Royal Family is their version of the American Kardashians.

I think a lot of Meghan’s problems stem from her total jealousy of Kate Middleton, the one shining star in the Royal heavens. She thought being the bride of Harry would elevate her to the same status and it didn’t happen because she simply doesn’t have Kate’s natural class and grace.
