This will be the forever thread.
Of course some of them will become’infected’.
Anyway.
I thought we had a plane dedicated for this. Used for ebola a few years back. Probably too many people for that plane.

Yes - the way the headline and article is written it sounds like the State Department (and thus Trump?) are idiots.
Until I saw the picture of the containment unit, outside the plane and loaded up with the people. Probably sprayed down with disinfectant before getting loaded on to the plane.

we have 1/3 of America’s Chinese immigrants so the number of stay at homes in Calif doesn’t surprise me. Arcadia, Garvey and Alhambra SD in LA are about 60% Asian. San Gabriel Valley, Central Coast, Kern County to San Ramon to Sacramento to San Diego, you name it. They used to outnumber the messicans.
The Chinese just admitted COVID-19 is an airborne contagion in some situations.
This was why China was keeping the CDC and WHO experts out of China.
See this, the opening sentence of which is the technical description of “Airborne Transmission” —
China admits aerosol infection possible in coronavirus outbreak
KYODO NEWS KYODO NEWS - Feb 20, 2020 - 13:14 | World, All
China’s health authorities have admitted that people may contract the pneumonia-causing COVID-19 coronavirus by inhaling small virus-containing particles floating in the air, or so-called aerosol infection.
Updated diagnostic and treatment guidelines published Wednesday say a person can be infected if they are “exposed to a high concentration of aerosol in a relatively closed environment for a long time.”
We already knew that here in the free world. The Chi-coms are detestable.
Yes, I meant it in the broader sense.
I am wearing gloves, mask and glasses when I vote this year. Maybe a Decom suit too
Cluster in Italy, only one with China travel history
The first six coronavirus infections in Italy: a 38-year-old resident of Codogno and born in Castiglione d’Adda, in the province of Lodi, hospitalized on Wednesday evening in Codogno, tested positive for the coronavirus test. His wife - who is pregnant at the eighth month - and a close acquaintance, both hospitalized in isolation at the Sacco in Milan, were also positive on tests. ‘There are six cases of coronavirus positivity in Lombardy, to date we have a large number of people we are working on, to date about 250 people are in isolation and to whom we will buffer’, says the Councilor for Welfare of the Lombardy Region, Giulio Gallera. All inpatients have severe pneumonia, the 38-year-old’s wife should be in a less serious situation. The 38 year old, on the other hand, is in a reserved prognosis, with respiratory failure and his conditions are considered very serious, so much so that he is not currently transferable. The other three people infected could have had contact with one of the first three cases, they arrived at the Codogno hospital (Lodi) in the night with a clinical picture of pneumonia.

In this article the whole town is asked to shelter in place:

Yes. I remember that. That plane was more like a G5. There was no way to get more than a few patients on that aircraft.

because they were already enroute to the plane.
crossposting from the article thread:
I found two cool videos that show what happened to the DP people from the time they disembarked to their boarding:
(skip to about 30 sec in to skip the people in the hallway part) screening, loading and a lonnng ride

Enroute, the Japanese relayed that tests of 14 had come back positive. Once the buses arrived, these guys were separated out, rather than return them to the ship. And the passengers went through another screening: (skip to about 1 min in) (notice the isolation box and the inflight screening area separated by a curtain - looks like the negative no-symptoms got a green wristband?)
