It would have been better if Newman’s helmet was indicated with an arrow. I have no idea what I am seeing.

THat could provide some interesting potential drama..and a lesson to those that separate. Change your financials and health care documents immediately in case you get indisposed.
Someone might have to decide to “pull the plug” on you and you don’t want it to be a soon to be ex..well ..some wouldn’t. Obviously not all.

I think the assumption about what is shown in that image is incorrect. The way the HANS (”head and neck support”) device works, a driver’s head would pretty much have to be ripped off before the helmet would come off.

What you think that is? btw, do you know what piece on that car is the Newman Bar? Is it still there.

“And if anything, Newman was aggressively blocking the car behind him. Some may be of the opinion that he caused the wreck.”
The guy behind him was his teammate, who said he was trying to push Newman to victory but their bumpers got locked and that is what caused the accident.

The guy that spun him did not win.

Check out this still photo that was taken during the horrific crash linked in Post #19:
Notice how remarkably intact the protective cage around the driver has remained even after most of the vehicle has been ripped away as a result of the vehicle crashing, getting shredded by the steel barrier above the wall, and then tumbling down the track. Geoff Bodine didn't walk away from that wreck, but he was in very good shape considering what he had been through.

The spotter from Hamlin is heard saying shove ..shove...sidedraft the hell out of them...meaning blaney and newman..(paraphrased). I posted the audio clip.
That said, that is what they do when racing. NOthing abnormal about it.
But that clip does show the Spotter telling hamlin about debris and ryan was upside down.

I tried to find something that shows what newman's helmet looked like... dont know if it was this or not https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2020/01/29/ryan-newman-roush-fenway-racing-reveal-daytona-500-paint-scheme/

Agreed.

I wouldn't know what it is. One of the Twitter posters says it is the "B-pillar," which is the part of the frame next to the driver's seat that is located where the rear edge of the door would be in a regular car.
You can't see the "Newman Bar" in that car. It's not visible from the outside in a photo like that where the roof is still intact.

Evidently his death that was reported by folks here on prior threads was a bit premature.............That’s good news.

My thoughts exactly, after watching J. Johnson and many others wreck their cars because of the same crap and the fact that it happened last year, I have to conclude that NASCAR wants these wrecks to occur.
