NASCAR driver Ryan Newman is awake and speaking with family and doctors, a day after a fiery crash near the finish line of Daytona 500. Newman's racing team, Roush Fenway Racing, offered up the update Tuesday and said it will continue to provide details as they become available. "Ryan Newman remains under the care of doctors at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. He is awake and speaking with family and doctors," the statement read.

Sorry I missed you. I don’t have an actual ping list, I was just pinging some of the people who were on here last night. I
obviously failed to collect all of the usernames.

Denny Hamlin in third place bumped the second place Blaney. First place Newman tried to block Blaney as Blaney moved down towards the apron but got rear-ended by Blaney. Hamlin then passed Blaney for the lead, and Hamlin's spotter was cheering the move.
“So this is how you knock off the winning driver in the last lap? Basically do a Pitt maneuver on him and then you get to win because with him out of control he causes the field behind you to have accidents?
What a waste of a race.”

“Siht happens at 200 mph.”

Crap like this does not happen in F1 - the driver would be fined, penalized (loss of points) and three points at least would be added to his super-license.
NASCAR is a joke.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Ryan Blaney was pushing Ryan Newman to the win as Blaney had no room left to make another move. Blaney spoke about how their bumpers were misaligned causing Newman to spin out.
Watch for Democrats to demand that the last lap be banned in racing...
Lefties are saddened
It was Waltrip.
I posted a video showing Hamlin’s team as the crashed car slides by them.
They will demand that all racing be banned, unless the cars are battery powered.
The picture that I posted that got deleted (maybe it is a getty image) had a red circle around Newman.... You can see his helmet came off and his head is totally turned sideways.
That picture is incredibly scary to look at.
Here is a pic of Newman in the air with no helmet . Take from it what you will as a paramedic. Apparently, the dark stuff you see around his face is the protective fire wrappings. There was a lot of fire and sparks and his car dragged. He could be badly burned as well on his face

btw, dispute about what you are seeing in that pic. People see different things. I don’t have a clue.
Great news!
Please no apology is necessary.
I just want to join in the unity of Prayer for Ryan.
I don’t know for sure what to think of that photo.
No. It was a driver realizing he couldn't get past his teammate so he decided to make sure the teammate won by giving him a push draft. Unfortunately, he caught him off center and spun him. Not an unexpected outcome given the way they were maneuvering across the track.
Thanks for the link. I’m having difficulty seeing anything definitive.
Yes. I have seen it posted multiple times on twitter. Some people think it is a helmet. Others think it is his head..which is what it looks like to me.
Whatever the case, it is a miracle that he even survived.
Amen. Likewise.
This is what I call putting a "pit maneuver" spin on what happened. Newman was weaving back and forth, making it hard for Blaney to pass him on the right. We see what Blaney did next.
