I have looked up Troy a couple of times. Ancient Troy was located in what is now, just a hill. The hill is called Hisarlik, at least that is where Schliemann dug.

I have no idea what the nearest town is but there is a fair sized city not too far which has a University which is sister to Troy, Alabama University.

Well, there *is* actual climate change. We’ve had mini ice ages and periods where Greenland was, well, green. We might well be heading into a time of warmer average temps, not inconceivable and inevitable someday.

The BS is that human activity has much if anything to do with it

I would love to know how this happened seemingly all at once.

There was extra food.

Which means not only more time for thinking up new things but also more people being born increasing the odds that you will get more innovators.

And more nutrition for developing brains. But you’re right, the real biggie is enough surplus calories that societies could afford ‘thinkers’

Exactly what I meant, but also a sudden elightenment of man or a Rennaisance. It seems like around 600-500 BC timeframe is the first time we know if in recorded history where man transcends savage survival and is beginning to think philosophically, about wanting more from life than mere existence. Writing exploded and you wonder if these things were thought before then and not written due to lack of technology, or if those things were just not commonly thought due a universal quest for mere sustenance and survival.

Just amazing. I would love to really know what happened.

The Teaching Company has a series about what they call the ‘Axial Age’.

Expanding the timeframe a bit and it is truly interesting that you have the Prophets Jeremiah, Ezekial, Isah and Daniel at nearly the same time as Confucius and Lao Tzu, and as Socrates, and Plato . Pretty much the basis of all philosophical thought for most of the world laid down within a couple of centuries. Most of the ideas with which humanity has contended with ever since.

Oops, *and* Buddha!

So the foundations of pretty much every belief system, along with the founding of Rome.

At 55 inches exterior for the sarcophagus , the occupant must have been very short, a child, or curled in the fetal position.
