The fact is that Cambodia is so fertile that you could almost live off forage without doing any work at all. It wouldn’t be gourmet dining, but it could be done. Those peasants will eat anything that doesn’t eat them first.
In a place like Cambodia you have to make an active effort to create starvation in order to achieve it. The KR did that.
