Yep.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has been accused of “delaying” its response to the coronavirus outbreak in an attempt to appease China.
By the time the UN agency declared a global health emergency on January 30, the virus had already spread well beyond China.

“No cases yet reported in the southern hemisphere. That may or may not change by the onset of autumn next month.”

Actually 15 in Australia. None others that I know of...yet.

The role of absolute humidity on transmission rates of the COVID-19 outbreak

Conclusion

Sustained transmission and rapid (exponential) growth of cases are possible over a range of hu- midity conditions ranging from cold and dry provinces in China, such as Jilin and Heilongjiang, to tropical locations, such as Guangxi and Singapore. Our results suggest that changes in weather alone (i.e., increase of temperature and humidity as spring and summer months arrive in the North Hemisphere) will not necessarily lead to declines in case counts without the im- plementation of extensive public health interventions. Further studies on the effects of absolute humidity and temperature on COVID-19 transmission are needed.

Apparently the fact that it's spread to hot, humid Singapore has escaped your notice.

Singapore has air conditioning, everywhere. This brings down the temps and humidity. It's a modern, 1st world city. It also has a high population density.

Look where SARS went. It skipped all the hot humid third world places and flourished in the hot humid first world places like Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

That was two weeks ago. They are using arenas now. They call the two new hospitals “deathatoriums.” There is no treatment there. There are no toilets. Either you live, or die.

And no one talks about the “camps” where people are taken from homes.

Or the multiple crematorium running 24/7 bu ringing people at a rate where the SO2 is noticeable by satellite.

As I said, do some reading you are two weeks behind.

Why don’t you include the recovery numbers? You include the death numbers, which means you do more than just start the thread, Dude.

By the reported numbers, at least, not yet to a level to consider a pandemic. I fear we’re headed there, however, of course.

That’s already happened. Ask anyone who is dependent on Chinese parts and services, which are starting to resume but panic buying and supply chain disruption continue.

They have 2 testing facilities.

My Son In Law spent most of 2018 in Somalia. I have some insight to conditions there. Put succinctly, it will burn to the ground.

800 Americans. I can’t understand why we were evacuating Americans from Wuhan, yet leaving these people to get infected on the ship.

I think the Trump admin needs to be careful for this not to end up looking like a Katrina situation.

By the way, thanks again for the thread and don’t let others tell you what to put in or not put in to it. This is FR, and anyone else can start a thread if they think they have something to discuss, or they can add to yours.

This daily thread is the BEST SOURCE that I’ve seen on the subject. We have, probably, hundreds of FReepers scouring the wires for news...and everything of interest that they find comes here.

So KEEP IT UP!!!

That’s deaths against cases. The true way to do it is at the end of the outbreak.

If you take deaths/(deaths+recovered) you get a much more grim prospect.

And remember the numbers we can run them against are the reported cases. In China a case= hospitalized and tested. We have no idea.

Also deaths are only hospitalized +tested + dead in hospital. If grandma died at home, it’s just pneumonia.

So, we just don’t know yet. The out of China numbers are good, but it’s only been out in any numbers for less than 2 weeks.
