Good Afternoon. Thanks for the ping. We had a cold snap here-got down to 6 degrees. So we have everything covered in straw and/or plastic. We have carrots covered and ready to eat.
Lemon trees have lemons not yet ping pong size, but bigger than a grape. Bay Leaf continues to grow. It’s about 9 inches tall. Hubby started some tomato and pepper seeds last week. Also Broccoli and Kale.
Hope everyone is doing fine. God Bless.

When putting out the trash this morning, noticed the violets blooming by the side of the building. In my mind, that means it is officially spring!

My October planted Garlic is doing great. I took these photos today
To: tubebender
You grow the best garlic! You’ve motivated me to dedicate one of my beds to garlic this coming fall.
Remind me your favorites to grow? I like Northern White and German Hardneck. Roasted garlic just sends me to the Moon!
The bed next to the Asparagus gets a bit crowded, as I always let if ‘frond out’ and do her thing so I get even MORE Asparagus the next season. This is Year Three - so I should have plenty to cut this spring. Yay!
But I’ve neglected garlic these past few years since I’ve had my ‘new’ gardens to work with. Now is the time. :)

The two I am currently growing are Chinese Early and German Red (I think) Age 86 is taking a toll on all things Tubebender. My best friend is 10 years younger and his family has had to implant a transponder so they can find him if he wanders off but he still drives??? Same thing for my little sister’s husband but he does not drive...

Thanks - now how to fool my wife into growing some...

She’s one smart cookie! I know her in Real Life. She was one of my favorite customers (along with her Mom & Dad, who loves to grow roses) when I managed the Garden Center. :)

I’ve got to do the German Red this fall. Put it in your ‘transponder’ to help ME remember! ;)

Had a thought. In addition to growing extra food and other supplies this year, it would probably be a good idea to grow extra herbs and spices for seasonings. With the supply disruptions happening in China, some spices are probably going to be in short supply.
I know that among other things, China supplies a large portion of America’s garlic.

Great idea. I’m on the garlic bandwagon for sure and will stock up on other necessities when The Spice House has a sale.

The Spice House?? I just got an order from them. If you are talking about the one in Skokie, we went here all the time, it was a must whenever we visited relatives.

We've gone from the freezer to the mudhole here in Central Missouri this past week.
No gardening. Just trying to keep from sinking.
Mr. Clarence got his new shoes on Saturday. Now that he's mobile it's time to prepare for tune-up/oil change/etc.
