Soon they’ll be doing this to anyone who shows up to vote republican.
Hmmm, wonder what the other side of the story is.
Seems reasonable, it’s a PUBLIC SCHOOL after all - and they answer to government. If people don’t like it, I guess they can try withholding their taxes and see how far the get with that...
Wow. That is horrible!
“Please don’t feed your children to the public school system.”
So this kid may have had a tantrum or something and instead of calling the parents to come get the kid they just commit them to a facility.
Well, the school got their wish. They got rid of this particular student. This is why some schools will have a small private room where such a child can be taken for a while, until they can quiet themselves down. Meanwhile, classes can continue uninterrupted for the other kids.
Did the mother know about these ‘disruptions’?
Document every thing.
“...staff at Love Grove Elementary School called social workers claiming the girl, who has ADHD and a personality disorder...”
Uhmmmm, all preteen have ADHD and personality disorders...
Another Greta Thunberg?
I would have the teacher and principal’s guts for garters if they did this to my child or grandchild.
And none the predators paid a price?
Held up to 72hrs. , without parents?
There has to be more to this story.
Government school is child abuse.
Did this “tantrum” perhaps include assault and destruction of property, and have the parents not taken care of that in the past?
Maybe she was in fact, out of control.
The law can be used against adults.
Homeschoolong doesn’t prevent it being applied.
There is NO such thing as “voluntary treatment” in the case of a child below the age of general legal consent - can sign legal documents for themselves.
Schools should ONLY be able to
1) Call parents to come get a child the school determines in cannot control;
2) Hold children in constrained but safe conditions - padded room if need be - until a parent or guardian arrives;
3) Seek police assistance in locating a parent and bringing the parent to the school;
4) SUGGEST (not legally demand) that a parent seek psychological and or psychiatric help with their child to achieve behavior compatible with the public classroom setting;
5) Suspend a child from attending school when behavior problems occur;
6) Permanently suspend a child for remainder of a school year if behavior problems persist without improvement.
That should be at most what a school should be allowed to do.
Florida has weird laws. A nieces husband got six months for euthanizing a 14 year old cat with cancer. The cat couldn’t dig a hole to defecate in.
If the child was out of control, she should’ve been suspended or expelled. Let the parents deal with her tantrums & find another way to educate her. This kind of treatment for a 6-yr old is ridiculous.
