*music ping*
Ooooo....I had such a crush on them back-in-the-day! :-)
Whoa, my first girlfriend loved it when I had the local radio station dedicate this song to her on the request line evening. What a memory.
Thanks
Great song - from back in the day when music was music - not the crap they have now.
Which one in the above pic is Dave Clark?
Haven’t thought of that song in a while. Might add it to the repertoire I sing for a friend in permanent resident at a nursing home. Chords look easy. Thanks for the ping!
Good to see your music posts again, thanks.
Because didn’t have one person singing lead so you don’t hear Mike Smith’s voice alone, but it was magnificent. IMO, the two best singing voices of the 1960s, were Mike Smith of the Dave Clark Five and Burton Cummings of the Guess Who.
I always thought they sounded most like the Beatles in this song.
I was just a kid when it came out but thought it was the Fab Four until my older sisters corrected me.
the link gave me a 404, maybe direct will work:

DC5 bumped the Beatles out of the #1 spot with, hmm, “Glad All Over”? NAmed for, and managed by, the drummer, the band had a great six year run, which not by coincidence mirrors the six years it takes to go from early adolescence to young adulthood.

Saw them in concert, back in the day.
Interesting about Dave Clark. He was one of the first to keep control of the DC5 creative content.
It also hurt him because he wouldn’t re-release any of the old stuff - he lost a ton of money and it kept the DC5 out of sight and out of mind.
The only English group back then that I liked. And they made it by redoing old songs.
Ive been wondering if Dave Clark was in an accident. Recent pictures Ive seen of him his face doesnt look just older, but distorted like Patsy Cline after her car accident.
