A relatively large asteroid that would cause damage if it hit earth will undergo a near miss of earth, flying right by. There was earlier controversy as to whether the asteroid would hit, but now scientists say it won't hit. Previously a 1-40 chance of colliding.
However, if the around 370 meter asteroid actually did hit earth in a high density area.. it would be a disaster. According to a simulation from an Asteroid Damage Simulator, the asteroid would cause hundreds of thousands of casualties and hundreds of buildings would collapse in range. Fortunately, this will not happen as the asteroid will undergo a near miss of earth.
Watch out for falling objects.
Twice in my life I’ve had birds crap on me. One time I was holding a bag of open Frtios and it dropped squarely in the bag.
OH! Here comes the manager. He's pulling the pitcher after that last pitch. Who can argue with that move?
LOL - guess I was off by a few years...
(BTW this is the technique liberals used to create massive culture changes in a few short years, how they sold peak oil, ozone hole, acid rain, all birds dying from DDT, population bomb, global warming etc. etc, etc.)
Soon we'll have a department of Asteroid Protection... and lots of hysteria about needing to 'SAVE MOTHER EARF' from total destruction.
The psychological mechanisms that create this insanity and total rejection of reality is too complicated to write up in the few decades I might have left on this insane planet.
Yes, that was bad. We’ve had a few on that level... happens.
Same here, but the best one I saw when I was in boot camp. A bunch of us were BS-ing and one guy was emphasizing his point by threw his index finger out. A bird crap landed right on it. It took us about 20 minutes to stop laughing.
I also saw when James Schmitz had a pigeon egg fall on his head on the way out of school when we were in sixth grade.
True. Well, when global warming goes the way of the ozone hole, peak oil and acid rain we can remind people about the Meteor Crater in Winslow, Arizona. If there's a massive change in the number of Asteroid coming in our direction - then it needs to be looked at. Other than that this is another white liberal elite sky is falling bit of hysteria.
Like the old saying goes: Almost doesnt count (except horseshoes and hand grenades)
Tell me when to duck!
In another nine years, if I’m still kickin, I won’t be lookin.
Nobody said it did.
Go ahead and believe the government funded scientists if you choose.
My point was that they cant predict tomorrows weather, but they wanna sell us fear - predicting doom in 2029.
Go argue with someone else..
Tom Horn says Apophis is the Wormwood meteor of Revelation and it will hit in 2029.

Welcome to Free Republic.
BFD, so what if it did hit us? By 2029 we only have what, a couple of years left anyway, right?
Thank you very much for that link. Im going to listen to that.
I think they do that on purpose, that’s why they all sit so close on the powerline later, sharing a laugh about what each has been doing. ;^)
You’re probably right.
Whatever you do, don’t every piss off a crow. They have an uncanny ability to communicate with one another. A few years ago, there was a murder of crows perched in the trees in my backyard, and their cawing was driving me crazy. I finally took out my BB gun and took aim. I don’t think I hit one, but my windshield was covered in messy birdcrap the next day.
You piss off a crow, you piss off them all. Not recommended.
You’re welcome. I’m going to keep an eye on what he says about Apophis in the future.
