To slide, or not to slide, is that the Question?
We have at minimum, at least two sides to the slide situation. Some people only have a few minutes to check in when they can and they are hoping for information they can't get from the MSM or Social Media; most of them favor a slide free existence. Others enjoy a mix of slide and seriousness; those usually endorse a sliding existence.
Both points of view have legitimate interests and concerns, so this topic bobs to the top every now and then. We seem to work best with a bit of a compromise. The compromise puts slides in the "seasoning" category and not the "side order" category on the main thread, and moves slides to full party down status in Festival. For those not familiar with Festival, it's the end of the prior thread. Things happen there - or so I've heard! :)
There are some consistent topics of interest which believe are worthy of threads of their own in the forum; I would enjoy visiting them when I have time for a break. We might even get creative about maintaining a party thread and linking it to our main thread.
I've seen a bit more sliding than is usual for us lately and I think it may be partly attributed to the increased anticipatory tension in the air as momentous Q drops begin to arrive. So let's try our time honored tradition (215 threads and growing!) of compromise - it's worked in the past.
PS: I really appreciate it when people put O/T or "Off Topic" at the top of their "seasoning" posts so I can skip it if I don't have time to spare. THANKQ!
