Measure once, cut twice.
Nothing in Russia works.
It was a planned demolition and the stadium collapsed.
The plan worked.
Russians don't take a dump without a plan!

The other sad thing is that he was working from the basket at first, then his partner told him to go out and they were attached to each other with a rope(dont know the right word sorry). It is shown on the other video from a go pro camera attached to this poor man’s helmet. A journalist gave it to him to shoot his work from his eyes. That footage shows how some man told them on the radio to go out of the basket and work outside, it was not his idea and it seems like he didn’t really want to do it, he was worried(totally understandable) and asked his partner to attach their ropes together on that video, the basket was much closer to the worker then, and it seems that their ropes were too short for the distance we see in this tragic video. It is so sad that they decided that he should work out of the basket and the basket was so far away from him and they were not attached with ropes anymore. Search Fontanka Ru channel, you can find the videos, 2-53 and 16-03 videos. Sorry for bad English.
They out started almost OK?

I wonder if it was a planned demolition and the charges to bring it down were in place and somehow his welding arc set them off?
Nuke plant mentality.
Poor man, and his family.
Occam says no.
thanks for the link.
RIP.
Yeah. I feel sympathy-he was just a working class schlub like any of us, and his bosses probably told him that what he was doing was just fine.
He did make a valiant run for it...then he disappears in a cloud of dust. A hell of a way to go.
Poor guy didn’t have a snowball’s chance, any which way he ran. It was all coming down.
It could have been worse.
In 27 AD, an apparently cheaply built wooden amphitheater constructed by an entrepreneur named Atilius collapsed in Fidenae, resulting in by far the worst stadium disaster in history. At least 20,000 were killed and many more injured out of the total audience of 50,000.
Built in 1979. I think it was on some sort of international list as an engineering marvel of the era.
It was built cheap and fast.
Recipe for disaster.
I used to tell my boss this all the time: cheap, fast, good. You can only have two of the three. You pick.
