Thursday, Facebook Head of Health Kang-Xing Jin said the firm would remove content with false claims or conspiracy theories that have been flagged by leading global health organizations and local health authorities that could cause harm to people who believe them.
He added that Instagram would also ban or restrict hashtags and conduct proactive sweeps to remove content spreading misinformation about the virus.
Twitter meanwhile has adjusted its search prompt to lift information from authoritative health sources to the top of the page when users make searches about the coronavirus.
Facebook has gotten into hot water over how it deals with health-related disinformation in the past. The social media giant was criticized for failing to remove anti-vaccination posts last year, instead opting to lower such content in the rankings of peoples feeds.
It announced a partnership with the WHO in September aimed at steering users toward accurate vaccination information from the United Nations health agency.

Good move. Let’s all stay on the same page as the Red Chinese.
Flipping the censor switch on. What could result.

“It announced a partnership with the WHO in September aimed at steering users toward accurate vaccination information from the United Nations health agency.”
Globalist bastards.
“Thursday, Facebook Head of Health Kang-Xing Jin ...”
Facebook as a “Head of Health”.
See, here's the issue: global health authorities don't know what to do. They have no idea what's happening. So all they can do is try to prevent people from panicking. That's a top, top goal. There are good reasons for that, panic means food supplies run out, people fill up emergency rooms for nothing, etc. But it does mean they have some inventive to downplay the situation. I see that they've co-opted social media now to prevent any firsthand info that doesn't come from their spin room so we'll be flying blind now.
“Trending” on Twitter now means nothing.
It announced a partnership with the WHO in September.———————
are they going to start running non-stop ads praising the Chinese like WHO did yesterday?
Waiting for fakebook to go after the Communists in America who parroted disproven Iranian propaganda about their missile attack.
Still waiting...
I see no problem with making FB the judger of truth. That will work just fine and dandy. /s
“panic means food supplies run out”
already bought some 200+ cans of veggies and fruits
Official spin had this being ‘controlled’ via the thermal scanners and people only spread this the day before they had symptoms.
Now we know, that with this virus, the thermal scanners are useless and people spread this almost as soon as they are infected.
“Mushroom treatment”. Keep us in the dark and feed us crap.
So, as expected, Facebook will only allow official Communist Chinese reports of the virus.
Yes, everything we get from official sources on anything that addresses a public danger (terrorism, plague, etc) will have a primary objective to downplay it so as to avoid panic. Like when Notre Dame was still on fire and they were saying they had no idea how it started BUT they were 100% certain it wasn’t terrorism. Because they were more worried about controlling behavior than about admitting they didn’t really know what was going on and maybe it was actually dangerous.
