Why would you doubt the accuracy of the number of reported cases but assume the number of reported deaths is accurate?

It’s very easy to get a death number.
Very hard to find out who has had the virus and survived. They may not even go to a hospital or doctor.
China can’t fudge those death statistics much, especially now.
