Until we see cases in DC and NYc... there's something weird going on.
I would expect to see cases in a more rural area. In particular, an area of the country which is home to a very large retailer that has several suppliers that hail from a large Asian country.
Was I obscure enough?
There are basically no cures for most viruses.
Most treatments for viral pneumonia’s are palliative.
Until the patients are well enough to go home, or they die.
Consumer goods get a modicum of cleaning that would cut down on their being infectious.
Intermediate production goods, from my experience, don’t.
I expect poor schmoes in shipping at assembly plants to be the ones infectedt by shipped China goods.
Huge number of Chinese travel to DC and NYC. Yet no cases?
I wasn’t referring to the goods.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
The problem with THAT logic is you are counting official deaths.
My point is until and unless it gets to some sort of Western System that can actually track stuff, we are urinating into the wind.
The stuff we DO know is that China is taking some extreme steps to control this. That, in itself, is unsettling.
Here is something to ponder: Watch and see if the impeachment wraps up quickly. If they think they will have bigger fish to fry in the coming weeks, they will drop it like its hot.
I’m hoping the number will remain 0. I’m watching the cases in Japan right now. 7 confirmed, 1 recovered.
I still want to know what constitutes ‘recovered’ and whether this person will have normal lung function going forward.
Supposed case in Hackensack NJ.
Most of that stuff is 30 days in transit. Even this stuff would not survive that shipping process, at sea.
I understand your point. Many times Ive said , smell the slave labor when opening a package from China.
I’d still like an update on the guy in washington state.
‘Stable’ is the last thing I heard.
Just to add to the WTF angle of this:
About a thousand people strolled of planes today, coming from China.
Exactly. And if human human transmission has occurred yet.
I’m sorry, that’s exactly what I thought you were referring to.
Care to be more clear to my simple soul? Thank you.
we are EIGHT weeks behind China.
Not the stuff. It does not all come to the headquarters building.
But. Salesman and all come and go between the two places. Not all legal negotiations are completed via a phone call. Not all factory “inspections” are completed via a phone call. Not all new product negotiations are completed via a phone call.
Then add in thousands vaccinated for flu.
