There is a significant lymphopenia and a very high DDimer in the infected of the Lancet publication. Means nasty stuff going on during the illness that could, in and of itself, cause death. Meantime WHO just said 2℅ mortality in their press conference.

There’s big overlap between, for sure.
Southern China/Vietnam tend to be more ‘delicate’ in appearance. Northern China tends to be taller and broader shouldered.
YMMV of course.
I worked with a Japanese guy who was right every single time. It was eerie. He was Japanese descent. His parents met in an internment camp.

"Meantime WHO just said 2℅ mortality in their press conference"
Use any sample size you want in terms of outbreaks in the most developed countries and you will not get mortality down to 2% for this Coronavirus.

Our city has very distinct Asian communities. Generally, you can tell Korean Chines, and Vietnamese. We dont have a lot of Japanese. Context and name badges are the big tell.
In our hospital community we have lots of Chinese Students, lost of Vietnamese patients, and some Korean employees. Not racist, just the way it falls.

"Finally found some info on Africa: https://qz.com/africa/1792684/ethiopia-nigeria-kenya-s-africa-ready-for-chinas-coronavirus/
No confirmed cases, but they do, at least, seem to be looking."

Gotcha, but if we put some money in an escrow account, and bet whether or not you could tell the nationality of Asians by just looking at them speaking to you in English on youtube videos or whatever, you would lose, because you can't tell by looking at them. You think you can, but you can't. You guess based on what I said above.

Uh-huh. It's like those people that tell you they can distinguish between tap and bottled water by taste.
It's all well and good till the blindfold and the money come out, then they back off the claim.

NEW: France reports 5th case of coronavirus, the daughter of the 4th case; 2 of those infected are in serious condition

Out of context? Absolutely. I used to be able to tell PR from DR from Columbian. Not so much any more.
And you do not want to guess with them. They get angry. So I just smile and talk to anyone.

Thanks, I’ll look at that.

Thanks. That’s a great link about Africa.

Nope.
He actually could.
We worked in a field with a LOT of Asians. He could ID the country w/o fail before we even knew the name.
Ie. at a conference, ‘see that guy over there, he’s Korean’...we’d walk over and sure enough, the guy would be Korean. Not dressed any differently than every other geeky male at the conference. etc. YMMV of course.

The worst thing to do is call an Iranian an Arab.

You are welcome. It's really getting too fast to keep up with suspected cases at this point, nor do I think most suspected are even being reported.
There's going to be a huge lag, even in the US, as data rolls through the bureaucracy.

Google has had enough, closes all offices in mainland China as well as HK and Taiwan. Also advises all employees to "come home" and work from home for 14 days, as well as any employee who has had family recently return from China to work from home.
Weakly worded in article, but I think they mean if you are in these areas, or if you have family who recently returned from these areas, get out of there, go home and work from home.
