f you wondered what kind of dad that liberal Ryan (Jordan Masterson) was going to be to his new daughter on Last Man Standing, January 23s episode Bedtime Story clued us in.
One might think his unborn daughters aunt and uncle, Mandy (Molly Ephraim) and Kyle (Christoph Sanders), would be the natural first choice to be the godparents, but Ryans first choice was the Obamas. I mean, you think they would have at least responded with a form letter. It just doesn't seem like Michelle, he laments.
One might also think that Mandy decorating her goddaughters bedroom is something Ryan should be grateful about. Hes anything but, as Mandy dares to -- wait for it -- use pink!
Ryan: Hey.
Mandy: Hey.
Ryan: What you doing?
Mandy: Decorating the nursery.
Ryan: Oh. So my daughter's first bedroom is going to be pink.
Mandy: Well, you're having a girl. Duh. Uh, and it's not just pink. It is Flamingo, Cotton Candy, Bubble Gum, and Ballet Slipper.
Ryan: Yeah, those are as different as night and evening. Um, hey, look, Mandy, I-I really wanted a non-gender- specific nursery for our baby. I-I don't want the decor to put any limitations on her.
Mandy: It doesn't. This room tells her she's a princess. Princesses set fashion trends, they start diet fads. If that's not power, then what is?
Ryan: Okay, um... Look, just imagine a generation that isn't locked into these outdated stereotypes. I really want my daughter to be a part of that, and... She can't do that from underneath a pink blanket.
Mandy: This is Blushing Cherry Blossom. Are you blind?
Ryan: Well, it's my baby, my house, and you're just the decorator.
Mandy: I'm not just the decorator. I am not just the aunt. I am the godmother to a princess! Get out of my fairy tale!
Kristin: What's with all the yelling?
Ryan: Uh, your sister is imposing archaic, patriarchal structures on our unborn daughter.
Mandy: And Ryan is being a butt.
Kristin: Well, knock it off, both of you. Okay? This baby, and having you and Kyle be the godparents, is about bringing us all together as a family.
Mandy: Okay...
Ryan: Yeah, but...
Kristin: I don't want to hear it! Okay? You need to work this out. I am not letting the two of you ruin this for me. My body is flooded with love hormones!
Gasp! Its almost like he and Kristin (Amanda Fuller) are having a baby girl! The couples resolve it with some humor, thanks to Kyle talking to them as, you guessed it, the titular character from The Godfather. If anything needed to be resolved, its Ryan lightening up some and getting used to having a daughter.
Molly Ephraim no longer plays Mandy. Article is wrong. Molly McCook is the new blonde.
In real life, the man as the “Ryan” character is a Scientologist.
Shoot me now.
Liked the books, didn't care much for the show.
But did you notice how the liberal father totally buys into "gender stereotypes" with a vengeance that would make a Victorian Cit wonder what was wrong with him?
I LOVE pointing that out to them.
I don’t watch the show, but that scene sounds like it is ridiculing the leftard dad.
I was watching it. It’s isn’t as good as it was, but the show following it, should be cancelled 1 second after it aired. 3 ‘high IQ’ kids and 2 parents who could make AO-C look like a Rhodes Scholar. Sorry, seen enough parents are dumb, kids are smart shows...
The show also promotes the mother as an alcoholic...
I like Tim, and he tried to do something different (positive portrayal of a conservative), but I guess he is let down by the creatives around him. I haven’t seen it since that first episode of the second season, so I can’t speak about it in any informed manner. My dad likes it, but political content sails right over his head. He thought “Dave” and “The American President” were apolitical.
Hey we’d all the the world to conform to our version of it. Nothing wrong with that. But the real world does have people in it make bad, screwy choices. And they’re all around us.
Mike has to deal with being the lone male in a house with four women. He’s not the lone conservative though. Eve, is the son he always wanted. All the girls hunt, or have been taught about it and all can handle a gun responsibly.
I think you bailed on the show too quickly. Yea, there’s characters and issues that have liberal points of view, and Mike skewers them on a regular basis but he stands tall for God, Family and America and makes no apologies for it. Mike LOVES Trump. So does Eve.
I thoroughly enjoy the show. ABC canceled a top show in it’s sixth season, why? Knocks on Obama, Hillary, the Establishment... who knows. Fox brought em back. Yea for us!
I like Tim and his slaps at libs but geez that son in law is a butt who’s on way too much. So much that I quit watching a long time ago.
Amazon has all the Zatoichi movies, but you gotta rent them.
Indeed Mike’s character is excellent for conservatives. Fun, lighthearted, clean entertainment.
Yes, but Charles Ingles is 112 years old by now.
I think its refreshing to have a show that is not one agenda. Its boring and this show is funny.
I actually watched it and it was funny. Problem with you and the rest is, you dont watch so you end up clueless on many things the show showed.
I hate the new Mandy, and I hate the twit lib Ryan and his wife. The gender neutral nursery episode was disgusting. I think Tim Allen is losing control of the series — if he had any.
I’ve been binge watching “Magnum PI” on Prime, which makes me homesick for Hawaii.
Gotta find “Frasier” somewhere.
Eve was good, but only makes a couple of special appearances each season. The little Asian girl is kind of cute and funny, but can’t replace Eve.
Bingo...”Last Man Standing” always has these type of lefty characters to be setup up for ridicule. The show has in no way caved.
Exactly. What on earth HAPPENED to the collective IQ at FR????
