The family of Kristin Smart, the California college student who vanished 23 years ago after attending a party near her school, was reportedly told by federal agents to be prepared for news and to secure a family spokesperson.
Denise Smart, the woman's mother, told the Stockton Record that she was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was told to "be ready."
"This is really going to be something you don't expect. We want to give you the support you need," she said she was told.
The report said the FBI was not clear on what the development was, she was told that her family might want to "get away for a while," and she should secure a family spokesperson.

Is she dead?
She has 3 kids. The last one in 2018 or so. She hasnt been missing for 40 years. What are people posting about like she has been missing and assumed dead since she was 2002. She was found alive after 9 months. Granted a living hell. But I am missing something here.
Im an idiot. Kristian Smart vs Elizabeth Smart. Im an idiot.
She has been missing for 23 years and she was 20 when she disappeared that would make her 43 years old !!!!
I was being dumb. I was confusing kristian and Elizabeth smart
NO PROBLEM and no your are not an idiot very easy mistake!!!
It was interesting to me how difficult it was to get information out of the government - and expensive! - as he claimed.
I hope that this news doesnt send her to ground again.
Kind of like “double secret probation.”
Ridiculous.
Geezus! Could that guy have been any more verbose and worthless? He used about 50 words to say absolutely nothing. What a maroon.
Kristin used the bathroom in Hillary’s Chappaqua (sp) house. She saw the illegal file server on the shelves where the TP was stored and reported it. She has been in witness protection for 5 years and wants to come home.
Well if they have something to hide, that would make sense.
No.
We used to live in Los Angeles county, now in Travis county Tx. Both cities have huge numbers of nameless homeless ppl. Many are probably in the “Vanished” or missing category. my friend’s nephew was one and there was no way to find him, until he allowed it. (needed money) everyone advised the family NOT to send him money. It would go for more METH...
Perhaps he killed her. Scott Peterson...
Lots of missing persons in US and around the world. Many end up as sex slaves. Also many end up homeless with no address....

I doubt it. Most end up dead shortly after vanishing, unfortunately.
Well, I have to disagree. There are thousands of homeless in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Austin. They aren’t dead. They just smell that way. They have checked out of society. No address. No job. Just a smelly tent somewhere.
72K in those 3 cities. They just check out and are nameless faces ...
“The current Austin homeless population is 2,255 according to ECHO,” Wittman said in an email, referencing the non-profit Ending Community Homelessness Coalition. “The current Austin budget calls for $62.7 million to be spent on homelessness initiatives. This breaks down to $27,804.88 per homeless person.”Oct 17, 2019
In 2019, San Francisco reported 8,011 homeless people met the federal definition of homeless, an increase of 17 percent from 2017. When looking at San Francisco’s expanded definition, the city’s 2019 total homeless population is 9,784, the highest in the Bay Area.Aug 13, 2019
According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, in 2019, approximately 50,000 to 60,000 persons may be found homeless on any given night in Los Angeles County, more than 44,000 of them on the streets.
In Austin homeless people are living in drainage culverts. This prevents flood and heavy rain water from draining. Not good. SO they are being cleaned out. Last time they picked up TONS of crap. We don’t have the human poop on the sidewalks, yet...
