As Oregon point guard Sabrina Ionescu racks up triple-doubles, shes driving attendance, selling jerseysand drawing raves from LeBron James
For a long time, one of the things that has held back the popularity of womens basketball is this sense that male sports fans have that they are better than womens basketball players,
Having learned the game partly on the playground makes Ionescu stand out in a landscape of young players, especially girls, who are reared on highly structured play, said Carol Callan, womens national team director at USA Basketball. Rather than look to a coach for direction, players who play pickup ball understand when something doesnt work that they have to come up with a solution themselves,
Ionescu isnt freakishly tall or fast. Shes just freakishly goodand fierce. A video from last summer of Ionescu playing an outdoor game with men showed her stuffing an opponents shotthen shoving him.
. Ionescu learned to rebound because pickup players wouldnt always pass to her. She learned to win because winners stayed on the court.

And surprisingly the cross on her wristband.
From the wsj comments: I actually don't think she was being compared to competitive male players (varsity, club or otherwise), but rather to the average male fan watching the game. I could be wrong, but I think the point of that quote was that the average male fan doesn't watch because they, rightly or wrongly, think that even they are better than women players.
Men are better at every sport than women.
A good HS male player would destroy her.
Men are better at every sport than women.
...
They are even better at chess.
If you go to the link you posted, look at her picture and imagine the ponytail cut off sh would look like a boy.
Guilty!
Why on one hand do the folks here dismiss intersex competition, and then on the other hand compare the sexes. Its stupid.
Womens basketball is better technical basketball. They play better. Men are stronger and more aggressive. They tend to try to dominate.
If the body size and strength were equal, the women would win more games.
So, when does she start playing on the men’s team? Or is she going to try out for the NBA?
Or will she go into the WNBA (is that what they call it?) so she can stay a big fish in a small pond?
Men are better at every sport than women.
Depends if the women participants have ovaries or testes.
The sports world is changing.
Get with the program.
If I were as tall and as athletic and as fast as Gianni, I'd dominate in the NBA too. It's sports. Being stronger, faster, more athletic is all part of it. In addition to skill as well of course. Can this girl hang with the NBA players? Nope.
Remember the Olympic motto : Citius Altius Fortius
Not really, otherwise, they (the pretend women) would compete against men, not women. 8>)
“If the body size and strength were equal, the women would win more games.”
1. It never will be.
2. If it was so, maybe the women would play like men.
That's just stupid.
IF!!!
Is this one a woman, or a woman.
You guys missed my point entirely.
They are two different games. They are not comparable. Period.
How exactly do women play better basketball technically than men do?
Yes. However, the one you should be telling that to is the woman who wrote the WSJ article. Her entire article is about how this lady is as good as the male players, as in this quote:
“A video from last summer of Ionescu playing an outdoor game with men showed her stuffing an opponents shotthen shoving him.”
They are not.
Re: Men are even better at chess.
Men also win most of the basic typing speed and accuracy contests.
Microsoft has a contest each year for completing certain tasks using Microsoft Office software.
I think a woman won last year, but that contest is usually won by men, too.
