I saw that movie and really enjoyed it. I love Tarantino.
I saw 1917 last weekend and it was an astounding film of great weight and the acting by George McKay was simply stunning work. That movie really stayed with me.
Marriage Story is competing but I don’t see how it can compare with 1917.
I saw once upon. A time and I agree with everything you said. But, I have to say that Ford vs Ferrari was also an amazing movie and I would put it side by side with the others you mentioned. Just my 2 cents.
I’ll look this up, but here are just a few of the things I picked up THE SECOND TIME I watched this.
1. Cliff Booth feeding his Pit Bull. Dog food comes in various flavors, ie raccoon, rat etc. He gives it one of each.
2. Dirty bare feet seems to be a message. The hippies and Sharon Tate both have them.
3. Just in the middle of being in Despair, De Caprio and Pitt are driving, and you hear over the radio that Bobby Kennedy has been shot. These two guys are oblivious to it.
Also Richard Jewell is a must see for all. Really riveting and captivating movie. Great performances.

I recall back then you'd throw garbage out your car window, paper cups and Popsicle sticks on the ground...I mean you wince now if you'd see someone doing this.
Remember, then the younger generation came up with the "Don't Be a Litter Bug."
They would be a great double-bill. Ford vs. Ferrari followed by Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Wen you watch the movie the second time, you see how Tarantino presents Brad Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth, as the guy he is. He’s obviously in great shape, used to scrapping as a stunt man, not afraid to say what he feels, quiet confident type...
Then when the situation presents itself, he doesn’t back down.
Yeah, I agree the ending is probably one of the best you’ll ever see, but Cliff Booth’s reaction to having that gun drawn in his face, and his pit bull, is great too.
“I, Tonya” and “Richard Jewell” would be another great double-bill!
My GF is from France. She zoned out, like in five minutes.
If you didn’t grow up during that time, you’ll be clueless, but the movie is entertaining in its own right, so it comes together eventually.
Long scenes, you’re right, with just dialogue and no cuts. Like De Caprio talking to the 8 year old precocious actress.
Now that makes sense.

Yep, got up this morning, like 5 am, and watched it again.
By the mid-Seventies, there was “Give A Hoot, Don’t Pollute,” the Crying Indian, and “Make All America Sparkle City! Put Litter In Its Place!”
It wasn't bad, and the shooting of the film was done in an unusual fashion. Still, the story was a little thin, and there were a few "WTF" moments in there. I was taken aback when one of the main characters was killed (partly his own fault, I thought) halfway through the movie. The ending was a nice turn, though not totally unexpected. I'd give it a B.
As far as "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" and "Richard Jewell": Saw both, liked them both, but I'd give the edge here to Tarantino. Much like his "Inglorious Basterds" movie, he took actual events and turned them on their ears in a kind of "what if?" vein. Very effective and a nice twist on the dreck emanating from Holly-weird lately.
That's not to say that "Richard Jewell" was bad. I just had a real problem with Jon Hamm as the FBI agent, an "amalgamation character" who was just a real Richard end to end. I also was not happy with how Clint tried to make the little reporter beyotch who started the whole sham into a tragic character who was just "doing her job".

Yeah you’re right. These guys are tossing lighted cigarette butts like crazy, spitting on the sidewalk....etc.
—I agree about “1917”-—hokey story with more holes in the “plot” than a sieve-—
—I will grant that t the photography was good, if you accept that manufactured scenes of WW1 battlefields are great—

Hey, did anyone pick up on the scene where the hippies are sifting thru the garbage, and Pussy Cat finds the jar of pickles?
Then later when she finally talks to Cliff Booth, (Pitt) he says, “How were the pickles.” I don’t recall Pitt watching them in the garbage, but I’ll have to go back and see.
I Cliff sees Pussycat walking with the Pickle jar.
