Punishing management to the limits previously agreed to but not punishing the players involved is a travesty. The excuse of not wanting to upset the players union assumes the union would actually defend cheating which I find highly unlikely and an untenable position to take. Basically they’re slapping hands and hoping it all blows over. Kind of like the PED scandal in the ‘90s.
I suspect the only reason they aren’t punishing the players is that this type of cheating is much more widespread than anyone wants to admit, and if they start punishing players they will open a Pandora’s Box that they can’t close again.
