Associated Press ^ | January 17, 2020

Fiat Chrysler is in talks with the Chinese company Foxconn to develop and manufacture battery-powered vehicles, the U.S.-Italian automaker said Friday.

Fiat Chrysler is in the process of merging with France’s PSA Peugeot, which is 12% owned by Chinese company Dongfeng Motor Co.

Both Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot have lagged in developing electric powertrains and also have been struggling to increase sales in China, the world’s biggest auto market.

It was unclear what impact Fiat Chrysler’s proposed joint venture with Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd., would have on the wider merger, which is expected to be completed in the next year or so.

If a deal with Foxconn is reached, a joint venture would focus first on China, the biggest market for electric cars with 1.2 million vehicles sold last year — half the global total. …

Welp, that should be the end of electric cars. They killed Chrysler, they’re working on killing Jeep and Fiat cars are a 50 year joke.

I wonder how much Tesla tech will be in those cars. Tesla had to give over it’s trade secrets in order to do business there.

I see an awful lot of Tesla in the NY area.

When in North Carolina with my family you see a few but not like NY.

Whenever I see one of the other electric cars(I do a LOT of commuting)they always look like they are falling apart, do you see the same?

If you remember the south park episode about smug, it was a goof on the Smuggness of those drivers now driving cars falling apart. LOL

Electric cars are monumentally stupid, unless and until the power grid infrastructure is built up to handle it.

monumentally stupid

I remember a few months ago Rush was talking about having to replace gas stations with electric charge stations.

I forget the stats but it was impossible to do but ridiculously so that it made me laugh out loud.

I know that; but this is like when they call parts of Israel “Palestine”; the left-wing media is calling anything Taiwan “China” as if it were the PRC.
