The timelapse released by Santa Cruz County Parks Department shows Chanticleer Park in Santa Cruz being built.
The park is located on Chanticleer Ave. off of Capitola Rd.
If only a similar video of the Capitola library could be made.
It’s been a long time and a lot of detours.
And how about the Rispin Mansion?
...or County road repairs?

This is three miles from me. You probably live around here as well.
If you build it, they will come.
So, how many tents and shopping carts will it hold? Will it have open-air urinals like Dolores Park? Free WiFi?
Some Dare Call It Progress.
I’ve only been there once. Is that what the construction is all about on Wharf Rd?
What is the Rispin mansion? Is that the old building across the street from the library?
So how long did it take in real time? 10 years?
What is the Rispin mansion? Is that the old building across the street from the library?
Yes, it was abandon around 1960 and has been tossed around since then. Numerous development proposals have been shot down (NIMBY’s).

Construction has only been about a year.
Parks doesn’t have to wait in line
or spend blood and fortune in permits.
“I do not propose to write an ode to dejection, but to brag as lustily as chanticleer in the morning, standing on his roost, if only to wake my neighbors up.” —H. D. Thoreau, Walden
We used to scare friends in that building back in the 70s.
“Watch as a Santa Cruz Co. park is built in less 90 seconds”
well, no wonder they could build it so quickly: that’s a pretty small park ...
