You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Over the next few days I will list the names of Todays CG puzzle solvers admitted to THE HALL OF FAME
The selection is based on the consistency of effort, fun, creative, sometimes goofy and lively commentary, and their general enthusiasm, in the past year.
In addition their choice reflects their skill and temerity of purpose in the solving of these daily CGs and their support for this posting.
On February 26th, (The first day of Lent), I will name three Hall of Famers, and give a $25 donation to Free Republic in their behalf.
Congratulations to Today's Cryptogram Hall of Famer: A_perfect_lady
A_perfect_lady has been a CG solver almost from Day 1. She was a slow starter at first, and as I recall was pretty frustrated in the beginning. Now, shes among those who solve the CG every day.
Solution to our last puzzle:
I CANT THINK OF ANY BETTER REPRESENTATION OF BEAUTY THAN SOMEONE WHO IS UNAFRAID TO BE HERSELF.---EMMA STONE
The author’s name did it for me.
That was fast!
I should have mentioned that the LE combination was a good clue.
Thats why youre the computer guy....
Yep. Me too.
Really easy today; common letter, author, done.
Awww....!! Thank you! I did not expect that!
Embrace the suck?
That got me started. I’m indebted for the clue.
Something like that. LOL
I love the Hal’s Helper! I used to use paper and pen and I got the quotes so scribbled on that I couldn’t read them long before I finished solving them!
I gave up on yesterday’s quote, but I got this one in under one minute and it is a good one. So True.
Esp, if you’re doing these in bed, in the am....on your Ipad....
ABC and ABCD did it for me. Boy, that quote rings more true than ever.
And you know where you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men
And more true tomorrow than today!
