I wonder if she has lost so much jawbone that she has trouble with her dentures.
You start losing it immediately when a tooth is pulled. It has kept me from getting a cracked tooth pulled

I had a pre-molar tooth pulled on the bottom right almost 50 years ago. It has caused zero problems; my other teeth have shifted not at all. 3 or 4 years ago, my dentist’s partner checked my teeth, and said, “some time, we should think about replacing that tooth”. I told my dentist what he said, and he just rolled his eyes and said, “No. We shouldn’t.”

True. I have an upper partial because of tooth loss. The jawbone of humans isn't very thick. Tooth loss can lead to it to decrease and age is a factor in that loss. Lots of commercials on tv advertise for ‘’senior dental implants’’ but the truth is that for a lot of seniors that's not possible because they've lost too much of their bone mass.
