I heard the same call for blood in San Diego this week, too - the report was that the hospitals are all running low and there is an influx of victims with flu, etc..

I’ve never heard of blood transfusions *for* the flu; unless they mean, most people who ordinarily donate, can’t, because they *have* the flu.
