The revenge of Covington high school students continues. Just one day after CNN came to a settlement in their defamation lawsuit with Nick Sandmann, lawyer Robert Barnes announced he was suing Reza Aslan, the disgraced former CNN host, for a minimum of $135,000 in damages.
Reza Aslans tweet of January 19, 2019 features an image of Sandmann and poses the question: Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kids?
The tweet was widely criticized by people from all over the political spectrum for being an inappropriate incitement to violence and for improperly suggesting that Sandmann and his classmates had been harassing an elderly Native American mana narrative that was debunked.
According to PJ Media the suit names a variety of public figures including Ana Navarro, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Maggie Haberman, and Kathy Griffin. PJ Media also reports that According to the lawsuit, the tweet calling Sandmanns face punchable further spread the false narrative that the Covington Catholic boys had aggressively insulted the Native American man, when that was not the case.
Aslan deleted his tweet earlier today. The Post Millennial reached out to Barnes who said that Aslan may be a facing a serious six-figure verdict, which could have been even worse had he not deleted his tweet when he did.
Suing only for 130K? Someone needs to tell these kids how much their lawyer will take, the cost of the college of their choice and some walking around money.
CNN is ATT
Telecom must not also control the news
Break up ATT
I don’t think that they kids want money. I read that they just wanted an apology (good for them and it shows humility). No doubt, their lawyers talked them out of an apology which was probably wise.
The larger issue is MSM and Hollywood who incite violence in all forms that must be stopped.
The tweet was out there for almost a full year, and deleting it when the host found out he was being sued is a redeeming act? WTH?
His pockets aren’t as deep as CNN’s...........
CNN has already settled.
Aslan is hung out there to twist in the wind.............
Sorry that’s not a winnable lawsuit. It was a question that was asked, rather than say go out and punch the hell out of this face, and it its no more slanderous intent than what is posted on this board.
How about $130,000 in damages and each Covington student gets to punch him in the face? That seems fair.
Good for them. He’s always been a phoney
What a lovely image...
Winnable or not, it will cost him lawyer’s fees, and he’ll probably settle out of court anyways.
Will not want to go that far...............
cnn and the rest of the media should be bankrupted over this.
I wish they would sue to have CNN apologize and wear MAGA hats for a day. We could all start a go-fund-me, and get them more money, and no lawyer fees.
Walking around money? Only if it’s enough to buy themselves a private island to walk around :0)
“they just wanted an apology”
You know, 51% of the voting stock makes for one hell of an apology.
“Suing only for 130K?”
It says suing for a minimum of $135k. On these type of lawsuits they have to put a minimum. It’s probably in the millions.
You ALWAYS have to ask for more than you really expect to leave room for negotiations.
Good point. But a public apology by CNN would have been the icing on the cake.
Better yet....
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhh I didn’t know that.
