I’m amazed that this article said, “She lost control of the car.” Most news reports ascribe all the agency to the vehicle.

To traverse the shrubbery, perhaps a curb, fence and lawn furniture, she would have had to be traveling at a significant rate of speed.
At least she hit the shallow end.

Mrs. Dangerfield: Honey, there’s water in the carburetor.
Rodney: Where’s the car?
Mrs. Dangerfield: In the pool.

No mention of age. Lived around there for a while. There are just too many people driving that shouldn't be. That's why the Villages and retiree communities like it are so popular. You can get around and shop for all your needs in a golf cart.

Must be a slow day. Over in Tampa/St Pete, this is a one-a-day story, and they sort of compete for speed of car and what odd place the driver wound up. The Standard was always "the gas pedal was stuck".
Pools being amusing, but too common. Bedrooms, alligator farms, diners, flower shops, one went from end to end thru an auto shop, bouncing over or off half a dozen lifts...

Just had to pick the coldest day of the year to do it too. Hope the pool was heated...
