Long anticipated, the Colt Python relaunch has finally come and looks well worth the wait.
How Has The 2020 Version Of The Colt Python Been Enhanced:
More consistent trigger pull shot to shot
Stronger stainless steel construction
Beefed-up frame above the cylinder
Hex-screw attached user-replaceable front sight
Recessed target crown on a one-piece barrel

Sounds like they are having a Government Motors moment, realizing they have to throw a bone to the patriots that buy the stuff.

I don’t think so. This is probably some long-term project they’ve spent a ton of money on since the time when they lost all their military contracts and realized they needed civilian sales. They probably figured they should finish the ‘New Python’ to try to get money out of the project.
They have since swung back to “we’ll try to exist on military contracts, screw the civilians” again, even though they do not have any contracts and are unlikely to get any in future.

Bought a 4 inch in 72 or73 ...... fit finish was as legend describes it. As to this new stainless version I will be surprised if its creation on a 5 axis CNC machine and limited hand finishing due low brow labor force and cutting corners for cost that it’ll be a piece of crap for those who have or had the old originals and a perfect excellent revolver for those that never saw real quality that colt craftsmen were capable of long ago. Just my opinion.
Hope y’all are well....

"perhaps the greatest double-action revolver ever created". Hyperbole much?
I'm a S&W guy and I'e had a few Rugers.
Colt was nothing to get excited about.
Would like to shoot a SAA and compare it to my Interarms Virginian Dragoon.

I handled a recent-manufacture Detective Special a little while back. My main impression was that it was HEAVY.
Always loved Pythons. Never had one, closest I ever got was the Crosman Co2 pellet revolver lookalike.

Its a terrible thing to part with a gun. It's even worse when your beautiful boat sinks and you lose all of your guns, and you forgot to renew your insurance policy:(

I have a Ni plated colt Python I bought in 1997 for $350. It was owned by an abortion doctor who had death threats against him. He kept it in his car under the drivers seat. I was at an indoor range with it in 2018 and the owner offered me $3000 for it. Was it a legit offer? I offered to let him have it if I could shoot 600 rounds per year, for life, through his fully automatic HK9 he got from the Milwaukee police dept.

Youd pat twice that for an average 4 blued original. No, he wouldn't. He might pay twice that for a pristine Python with original box and papers, but $3K would still be a hefty price.

I still have my blue 6 inch Python bought back in the mid 70s.
I turned down a $2500 offer for it.

That’s what I suspect, that they will disappoint compared to the originals.
We’re good! Hope you are, too.

This is the same company who just said civilians cant be trusted with the AR-15 family of weapons and stopped sales of them. Theyre also making noises like they dont really want to sell any modern weapons to civilians. You mean HK?
HK. Because you suck. And we hate you.

Colt was nothing to get excited about. To each his own, of course. But there's a reason those original Pythons command such a premium.

My main impression was that it was HEAVY. Haven't seen one yet. The originals were very nice and I'd like to have one.

I still have the 4” Python my dad bought for me in 1974 when I was 16 years old. It cost $180. I used his RCBS A1 press to reload my own ammunition.
