A team quarterbacked by Ryan Tannehill beat Tom Bradys Patriots in the playoffs in Foxborough. It was the second straight shocking loss for the Patriots, and it ended a season that started with so much promise and hope behind a historically good defense.
The Titans rode the NFL rushing champion, Derrick Henry, to the win. His 178 yards on the ground were the most for a player in the playoffs since Colin Kaepernick had 181 as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback in 2013.
This home loss in the wild-card is uncharacteristic for the Patriots. It prompts questions about the continued viability of a dynasty that began in 2001. One of the main characters, Brady, is now a free agent, and though it seems unlikely, its possible one of the greatest quarterbacks ever has played his last game with the only franchise hes ever known.

Derrick Henry was a beast. And I’m a Pats fan. But it was clear the end of an era was approaching—I didn’t expect them to go very deep into the playoffs.
Not tonight. Edelman's drop was a crusher. Like Jackie Smith's in the SB.
What? 10 replies already and none of the self-righteous “National Felon League is evil” FReepers have chimed in? What’s this site coming to?
He’s still the GOAT.
Can’t win it every year.
The way his receivers have been most of the year, not really. If the receiver doesn't have "Dick Stuart" hands, it's a reception, albeit a short one.
It may have been his last pass ever. It wouldn’t surprise me.
Tom Brady is over the hill and everyone in the NFL knows it.
Except Tom Brady.
Patriots had a top 5 defense. Decent running game. Excellent receivers and offensive line.
If they had Jimmy Garapollo back they’ll be on their way to another Super Bowl.
But Jimmy might go without them.
The current Texans play the former Texans next week.
Yep.
Should have kept Hogan (very underrated receiver) and drafted a big fast tight end like Goddart or Gesicki. And why did they not use Burkhead more? He was hit early and then they took him off.
The Patriots dynasty is over.
Excellent receivers? Edelman...and who?
49ers to stick it to Colin K and Ravens are my picks for SB
That certainly didn’t help. 8>)
Especially if McDaniel leaves for a head coaching gig. Heck, does Bellichick at his age want to be in a rebuilding project?
I’m rooting for the Eagles, but odds are not in their favor.
Yeah, but her was excited to score a TD...Instinct, ya know...
The Pats lost to Miami was very telling. But the Pats had a long running dynasty, but who knows what next year will bring. 8>) I never write-off the Pats.
