Still, Segway insists the tech is game-changing in the field of personal transport.
A navigation panel controls the ambulant seat, the speed of which is adjusted through a knob, which changes the pods center of gravity. The rider does not need to physically lean forward and back to accelerate or slow down, Segway says, noting the max speed is 24 mph. Its one of a number of anti-tip strategies incorporated into the pod.

I was a coach on a US FIRST Robotics Team and have met Kamen briefly. I’ll bet he’s glad he sold off Segway.
My kid got some great scholarships because of being on a FIRST team.

I dunno about closed campuses, but it would make a really nice wheelchair upgrade if it could go through 30-in doors and market under $1K.
