The owner of a McDonald’s in Kansas is defending his employees against accusations that one of them served a cop coffee with “F–king pig” scrawled on it, saying video evidence proves otherwise.
Dana Cook, who owns the McDonald’s in Junction City, said in a statement late Sunday that a review of security footage from “every angle” inside the restaurant shows that message was not scrawled by employees, KSNT reported.
“My McDonald’s have the utmost respect for all members of law enforcement and the military and were troubled by the accusation made,” Cook wrote in the statement. “We look forward to working with Chief Hornaday as he continues his investigation.”
Cook’s statement did not speculate who may have written the message, which appeared on the cop’s beverage after a visit to the drive-thru early Saturday. An employee at the restaurant declined comment when reached on Monday, saying only that an internal investigation is ongoing.
“At this time, we are not making any additional comment,” the employee told The Post before hanging up.
Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday, meanwhile, told the station that a review of the footage was inconclusive.
“We deal with enough frustration in our daily duties every day,” Hornaday told KSNT. “To have something like this start off your work day while you’re driving to the place where you’re going to serve the citizens is just very frustrating.”
Hornaday said in a since-deleted Facebook post that the unidentified officer received the insulting message while on his way to work early Saturday. The cop, who is also a veteran, was offered a free lunch after alerting workers there, Hornaday said.
“No thank you,” the post read. “A Big Mac and large fries doesn’t make up for it. The US Veteran who continues to serve deserves much more.”

I just watched Knives Out the other day. I liked it but my wife, who is British and normally loves mysteries, couldn’t get over Daniel Craig’s Southern drawl. Living in Georgia for 10 years and hearing actual Southern drawls didn’t help things.
So how did the server at the drive through know this guy was a cop? My understanding is he was on his way to work in his personal car.

And another kind of weird, even unprofessional thing. The Chief of Police of one town, Harrington KS, calls out another town, Junction City KS, saying “This is not only bad for McDonalds, but it is also a black eye for Junction City.” Really? Calling it a black eye for another city? One with it’s own Sheriff? A bit dramatic, no?

VERY, VERY, DISAPPOINTED that a cop would do this, what in the hell was he thinking?.?? At a time when we are ALL trying desperately to build up credibility where LEO are concerned this stupid shmuck does something this idiotic!!!!
Agree, pretty dumb thing to do.
But. LEOs get attitudes like anyone else.
Some get big or hurt egos.
And, they’re unionized government workers.
Also, where are all the FBI, DOJ, IRS grunts that should be whistleblowing on all the illegal bs that’s been going on there?
We should ALL be disappointed. But we shouldn’t “ALL be trying desperately to build up the credibility” of LEO. That is their job, and they are all too frequently failing us. Good to see this cop is paying some price. I have to assume the video evidence was pretty conclusive to make that happen.
