his is a NO POLITICS initial analysis of today's murders in a church in White Settlement, Texas. It is meant to educate in technical and tactical applications of church safety for all houses of worship. This educational analysis is not meant to be critical of people other than the murderer.

Militia man is a phase I keep hearing.
This guy lost any credibility with me when he called the Springfield XD the McRib of sidearms. But to his credit, he looks like he has laid off the McRibs himself and gotten his health in order.
Watching it, the church members appear to be trying to talk the shooter down. The shooter then escalates, shooting two, the church member draws and shoots, taking the shooter down. Even more interesting was how many additional church members had drawn their firearms and were advancing on the location of the shooter within seconds. These were people who were ready to protect the others in the church.
That is a good video. He nails it on several aspects. The one he doesn’t mention is situational awareness failure. Also, member trying to pull weapon is carrying incorrectly (SOB) for that situation AND stands up after shotgun has been pulled out. Fella holding communion tray should have rushed the shooter immediately when shotgun came up. Probably could have kept him from Shooting second shot. Oh well, it’s over.
Sadly, it is being reported that the second parishioner shot (the black man initially confronted by shooter) has passed away.
Good video showing close-ups of the people involved. A lot going on very fast.
Lessons sometimes are learned by ultimate sacrifice. There are those who are much more knowledgeable than me to “armchair” and do post-analysis. I hope all churches that are armed take precaution and tighten up.
I suspect the shooter made several peoples radar when he entered. Manners prevented them from drawing first.

I’ll offer this from my perspective as someone who carries in church:
I’ve always been content to carry my J-frame concealed. It is fairly easy to hide. Mine is 357 & I shoot it with 357 so I know how it feels. If confronted in a street or while hiking, I’m not likely to have a legal basis for shooting 15+ yards. At that distance, someone with bad intent is likely to conceal their intent, act friendly (or at least not threaten) until much closer. I didn’t worry about good sights because my primary scenario was shooting at someone within a couple feet of me.
I became convinced a year ago that carrying in a church is different. I’d most likely need to shoot in a crowded room from a distance of over 15 yards. The guy might be wearing body armor. And be armed with a rifle. So I switched to a Glock 27, and more recently to a Ruger Security 9 (full size). Longer barrel. Much longer sight radius. The full size gun feels very instinctive in my hand. A full grip counts for something.
A full size gun might be a liability as a “get off me” gun. Too big & too long of a draw. But my J-frame/Ruger LC9 is a liability for a church shooter scenario.
Watching the video, I was struck by the guy nearby having trouble getting to his gun. That will be an issue for anyone carrying concealed, and the more concealed, the bigger the problem. I like IWB carry, but belt carry and whatever sort of jacket will allow me easy access may be what is needed for a church. Although I wear jeans to church, a suit coat unbuttoned would never be too out of place and allow better access than an untucked shirt.
The video reinforces the idea that how I carry going to WalMart may not be how (and what) I carry to church. Just food for thought.
This *CANNOT* be a coincidence.
What is that girl screaming? Sounds like she keeps saying “let him go”.
The shooter had been arrested several times and was known to the police. Still no name though.
Screw tube is Covering this up. Pulling All video clips of it.
Jackasses !!!
They are hiding something about this guy. Odd to have no answers about him yet.
There’s a photo on the church site with a lot of little kids including a number of black kids in front, I hope he’s not their grandpa. Alas, he probably was someone’s dad and grandpa, but they’re about the age I was when I lost mine. Ugh.
I think shes screaming Daddy, no.
