The first question you have to ask yourself is what you hope to gain by putting a government target on your back, and those in your family. In 1997 I hosted a national militia meeting on my property in Texas; it was a large encampment of militia leaders and members from all over the country. We even made the cover of Time Magazine as a “militia hotspot.” What was the goal of this get-together?
Now back to the purpose of the meeting. Militia leaders were being picked off by the federales via entrapment schemes similar to what happened to Randy Weaver in Idaho. Government informants joined these groups and set up the leaders by doing things such as planting explosive devices (pipe bombs) on militia leader’s property to be “discovered” during federal raids. Other informants acted as instigators (our Texas group had one) prodding leaders and members into taking action that would unnecessarily put the unit in danger (physical and legal), and in a bad light to the public. Some informants got militia members on tape talking about planning illegal activities (this was actually a lot of empty bullshit boasting).

We continually use the future tense. I do it myself. The reality is the reason we are where we are right now is because the Rats can’t accept what happened in 2016. We (myself included) say “No one will ever accept en election again.” We are years past that point right now. Not “something is going to break” but “something has broken”. AG Barr has a brief window of opportunity to try to address it IMHO but that window is closing rapidly.

It takes all sides of a question or disagreement to make peace. If one side is determined to win at all costs peace is impossible.
They will push and push until they win or we fight back. Then they find other fields to fight on (courts).
They use every dirty trick ever devised, we believe in following the rules.
They lie and when caught lie again, we believe in truth and honesty.
They believe in the rule of the mob, we believe in the rule of law.
They control the educational system, the news media, entertainment media and too many of the courts.
The left has launched an all out war on America as we know it. The Constitution is worth less than toilet paper to them. They abhor it and any who follow it as written.
Though I hate to say it President Trump, like President Reagan, is a momentary pause in the slide into totalitarianism.

I agree, But for myself as a historian and your mention of “30-40 years ago”. I understand that it actually started in this inevitable direction and end result after President Eisenhower. With the effort being ramped up in 1965 with Cloward Piven. I understood the events during Clinton as the absolute conformation of what was indeed to come that we see now. Then came Obama and we were in it for good with no going back from the day he was elected.
What we see now is just the tying up of loose ends in the long term agenda that started after Eisenhower. Trump is just an inconvenient and unexpected delay in the long term agenda at this point. Even if Trump does get a second term, The powers that be will not allow anyone who truly represents the people or the Republic to ever be elected again from either party after.
Trump’s independence from the powers that be was an inconvenient accident they did not expect. Hillary was the lock to be snapped shut on our cages and finally complete this long term plan, they thought they had it cinched. You can bet they will NEVER let this happen again no matter what they have to do to prevent it.
The play has been written for years, The stage has been set, All the actors are in their places, and we are now just waiting for the curtain to go up and the lights to come on at any moment. The show will indeed go on...
Hopefully, what breaks will be the Democrat Party. There's at least a small possibility that their 'bat-shit-crazy' lurch to the Left will disturb enough moderates, to start costing them elections. Combined with an even smaller chance that the Repubs will start following Mr. Trump's lead, and the country could be saved at the ballot box. I'm not counting on it; moderates are wishy-washy by definition, and the GOPe has a well-established track record of seizing defeat from the jaws of victory...

Agreed! Either way, this country is going down the tubes. The Rats accelerate the decline as fast as they can, while people like Trump slow the decline only temporarily. Our children are compromised by the educational system. It’s me, me, me. Once the Rats get back in power, it’s open borders to buy the votes that enable them to rule in perpetuity. Laws will change to ensure this, perhaps even Constitutional amendments. If the Rats are stupid, they will enact gun confiscation nationwide. That should be their demise. We’ll see.

It is a science fiction comedy story, and in the book it describes a "conspiracy" in which every single member of the movement was a government informant intending to entrap the other members of the conspiracy.

Unfortunately if we get lucky it will be on a short term basis, One more election maybe. They have been at this for a very long time and have the full support and backing of the “too big to fail” global powers that be. They now have three generations of very well indoctrinated communist youth who are absolutely blind to the consequences of reality, and the moderates are all but gone. The possibility of saving this Republic by any peaceful means ended the day Obama was elected.

It apparently does happen. There's the case of Randy Weaver - IIRC, a government 'informant' came to him, wanting a shotgun barrel shortened. The 'informant' specified where he wanted the barrel cut, and because the barrel would still be over 18" in length, Mr. Weaver did the work. Unfortunately, he (like many Americans) was unaware of the legal overall length requirement for shotguns (26"??), and unintentionally broke that law. Which was obviously what the government 'informant' was looking for...
The way that the FBI gets informants is by offering a deal to people facing prosecution: “if you help us get evidence on others, then you get a break on your sentence”. And once they have their hooks in you, you will NEVER be free of them.
It’s what happened to Randy Weaver. They entrapped him into making a modification to a shotgun which resulted in it being a fraction of an inch under the legal limit, then told him he could avoid jail if he infiltrated a group for them. He told them to get stuffed.
If you ever hear of a friend getting arrested for anything, never assume he isn’t under pressure to “help” the cops.
