Facebook didn’t crash. In fact, I’ve seen no interruption of service at all (whether that’s good or bad is another question).
99% of Facebook service interruptions is somewhere in between you and their servers - not them directly. Here is a link to bookmark next time you see this happen:

I disabled it on my phone over a year ago. I would check it on my home computer every week or two, but I have not been there since last September. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

I deleted my FB account a couple years ago. (and you have to delete it completely)
I came to realize that all those people who were no longer in my life that I rediscovered on FB were not in my life now for a reason...
Absolutely no regrets.
