A 17-year-old is now believed to be the youngest student to ever receive a master’s degree from TCU.

Carson Huey-You walked during Saturday afternoon’s ceremony, where he accepted his master’s degree in physics after receiving his undergraduate degree at 14.

Something like this certainly seems to be one-of-a-kind, but he also has a younger family member, who is now following in his footsteps.

Some people can find victimhood no matter how high their accomplishments go. I hope these kids aren’t part of that. It would make them unhappy for life.

I am certain these kids are encumbered with a mother who never allowed them to be boys

...

I don’t know about that. But I could find no mention of a father anywhere in the article.

Wiki says his parents divorced when he was very young.

Judging by the name and the pics, there seems to be a lot of Asian there. I’m not surprised that they’re over achievers. Good for them!

In other news the first journalist ever to pass a logic course finally got his grade (D-) at the age of 74. This sets a stand and proves that journalists, if they really try, can pass a true academic course.

Another article says that his mom is a stay at home mother and that both his mother and father were involved in putting him in TCU. Even if they were divorced, it’s sounds like his father is strongly involved.

Yep. Also African American like Tiger Woods is African American. (Apparently Chinese father.) Homeschooled.

Clearly bright, but also college is nowhere near what us old farts knew it to be—you can essentially be tutored through all your classes. And the door is always open for African Americans and Hispanics of pretty much whatever caliber, department by department. E.g., you can go into and up the masters in physics sequence with C- grades through two sections of calculus and math SATs in the 500s. And aqgain, you can have tutors and other accommodations for every class.

Most of these early college prodigies really end up as regular workers in whatever field they studied. Seldom do they become the creative geniuses that change fields.

My groundless guess, since dad doesn’t seem to have any footprint online but the kids also were taught Mandarin, is that he was a techie Chinese spy who returned to his home country. (How’s that for spitballin’ without evidence?)

I am of course no fan of the Scientologists, but I remember being in an elementary school they ran a number of years ago, where it was clear the class was orderly and the achievement years beyond what our public schools offer—just within their kindergarten and first-grade classrooms.

nope. My daughter interviewed there. Everyone told her don’t worry about the Christian in the name....it doesn’t affect what students do. We ran from there as fast as we could. They are mostly about football and “greek life”

Tiger Woods’ father was a black U.S. Army officer, his mother was Thai, they met when his father was stationed in Thailand. His father taught him to play golf when he was a small boy.

No, I’m talking about this kid’s father. My point was that Woods, presumably like this kid, could just as well have been classified as of Asian descent, which would significantly change the narrative.

Time will tell. Out of the blocks well, life is a long journey. I hope he learns about the human and spirit part of the world, not just the Physics part of the world.

Sometimes I think that our Fuller Brush man was more equipped to deal with the world than my pHD Physicist father.

His father also is/was a pilot. Don’t find anything as to
what he is doing now.
