A California crowdfunding effort is hoping to solve the U.S. homeless crisis by building a 300-acre city open exclusively to those without a home.
Daune Nason, founder of the Folsom-based Citizens Again, released details Thursday of his plans for an estimated $3 billion private city equipped with amenities and services for a 150,000 high-needs population.
Californias homeless population in 2018 was almost 130,000, nearly a quarter of the national total, according to the most recent federal data.
Qualified citizens those who meet as-yet undisclosed criteria will be allowed to live in the city and are free to leave whenever they wish, says Nason, who adds, Some might want to stay forever.

When this gets built it should attract all the homeless in the nation.

It’s warm around the Salton Sea. Just have everyone walk 10 miles a day around the lake. 1-2 weeks. Space the shelters far enough apart. The place is desolate.

The costs will triple, because CA law will require the new buildings to be eco-friendly and made from recycled material. Next you have to factor in the water costs, electricity, and infrastructure.
And because of the lure, the population will balloon in no time.
This project will never get off the ground.

In some cities they already have a name for such places.
The Projects.
The cops won’t even go there without tons of backup.

150,000 people on 300 acres is crazy dense. They will have their own dysfunctional populations.

The guy that started the crowdfunding site could be just a grifter with a little bit better fraud than some.
